NFL Trade Deadline Rumors, including Bourne and Agholar

Dear @PatsFan2
This day isn't going to go well for you. We will not be doing any trades. Other teams will be doing some trades. You will like their trades. You will wish we had done their trades. Best to just switch off the computer and do something else.
All the best,
Everybody else on PatsFans.com

I think Chubb is a solid player but he seems pretty streaky and somewhat injury prone. I guess if you're Miami and you think he is that piece that can help you beat Buffalo or KC in the playoffs then the risk is worth it but that price seems steep for him.

Yep, the price is very steep considering that he's on the final year of his contract. I would've been pissed if the Patriots made this trade.

I might of done a first and Harris.

Patriots are going to be fighting for third in the Division for the foreseeable future.
I don't get this. Harris would only make sense to trade if you're giving up on the season, considering it would leave us with exactly 1 RB worth seeing the field. Chubb would only make sense to trade for if you're going all in this season. So there's a conflict there, for starters.

The other thing is, why would we want to go all in this year? The absolute best case scenario is what happened last year, and that's not worth it to me. The team is very far off where it needs to be, but people still act like it's the Brady era when midseason acquisitions made sense because there was always a potential Super Bowl at stake.

I checked out a Broncos message board yesterday and they were talking about the potential of getting a first rounder for Chubb. They all near universally though any GM who gave up a first rounder for Chubb should be fired. Broncos fans don't seem to be nearly as big of fans of Chubb as people around the league are.

Like I said in my previous post I don't get it either. It's huge for them to get a first back after getting fleeced for a washed up Russell Wilson.

I hate when we do nothing !
Makes me feel like mediocrity is acceptable
Do we have a Super Bowl contending team this year? Or one that would be if we just added that one final piece? I don’t think we do. We have a team that could contend for the final playoff spots but that’s about it. I also don’t think we have anyone to trade away that’s expendable except maybe Agholor, so there’s not much we can get back by being a seller, at the risk of potentially losing that playoff contention ability. So with that in mind, I’d expect any trade the Pats make would be for someone who could help in 2023 as well as 2022. Smith and Chubb’s contracts are up and they’ll be given large extensions by the Ravens and Dolphins; while they can be viewed as multi-year from that perspective, it’s a high price to pay in trade value and wouldn’t be worth it unless they can help with 2022. I just don’t think the Patriots would do a ton better in 2022 with either of these guys on the roster, as we have broader issues to deal with. Maybe I’m wrong though. They’ll try to get players who can help in those spots in the offseason, and just use the rest of this year to assess the talent and mental toughness of the players they already have - so that when we ultimately do contend, we’ll have players mentally tough enough to seal the deal.

I'd be more mad if we were wasting draft picks on guys who won't be here in another year or two.

I do not understand Detroit...
Minnesota is the clear winner

But Hochenson is still young and a very good playier
Return was minimal for Det
Minnesota great achievment

Nobody is winning or losing these trades outright.
Most of these players are in for a big contract & they are not getting it at home.

Forget the trade value for Chubb. The new contract will be the most fascinating part of this. He’s got the inconsistency and injury history that would usually be held against a player during contract negotiations, but it’s harder to argue against a player’s contract demands if you’re trading a first round pick for him.

So for the selling team is always a certain loss to lose a good homegrown young player . but a certain win to get quicker and better compensation that they would get by letting them walk later.
For the buying team there's a gain of proven vet but comes with a loss of not only high pick but big chunk of cap.

Unless im a clear SB contender with relatively healthy cap situation id prefer to be on the selling side.

Calvin Ridley to the Jags apparently.

I thought the Pats might try to trade for him in the offseason. It is surprising that they did the deal now considering he's suspended for the year.
