Preach!! That jets front is probably the best they're going to see all season.. Even better than Buffalo.. I think Allen is in trouble next week facing a pissed of jets d... however everything you stated was spot on!
Buffalo has expended a lot of resources over the last several years on their front 7.
A huge amount of draft picks.
A lot of these youngsters sat last year. Now they are all up front with added strength from Von Miller and they are crushing teams more than any other.
They've used 12 picks in the first 3 rounds over the last 7 years on DL and LB. Rousseau, Basham, Epenesa, Oliver, Phillips, Edmunds, Lawson, etc. They went D-line crazy and it shows.
Smart.
If you can blow up the opposition's offense within 2 seconds of a snap, you win almost every time.
Deep shots, tight windows, boundary/sideline throws, etc. He's an inexperienced player with a lot to work on but I see no reason to believe he's incapable of making NFL throws.
Late to this party, but it is really disappointing how much vitriol posters have towards one another here. Especially after a win, regardless of how the win might have "felt" to some. I'm not immune to this either. I think we all need to take a few breaths and remember why we like football. Beating the Jets on the road should be good for at least 24 hours of happiness, and certainly shouldn't result in personal insults and people arguing against other posters, rather than against that poster's arguments.
Not only that, it's really pointless because if there is no other take-away from yesterday's game, it is that Mac is the starter.
All the Zappe love in the world (as heartfelt as it is) isn't going to change that. BB was very complementary of Mac's play in the post-game presser, and he was pretty clear about his decision to go with him before the game too.
It's best if people cool their jets about Zappe, he ain't getting in unless Mac gets hurt again or Mac is an absolute disaster. I think this season is all about Mac getting in his reps and hopefully improving game by game.
Agreed, if they can make the playoffs again it would be impressive given all the weird things that have happened this season... we would be doing this with no all pro level players outside of judon..

The tenor of this board has certainly been different than in the past. I wonder if it's the growing realization that our haylcon days of sheer dominance are over.
I don't know what they were doing down the stretch yesterday. I don't know why we were throwing the ball late and with a big lead and not trying to grind down the clock. Also I don't know what the hell that play call was on 4th and 1. It looked like a busted play or maybe a busted RPO? It looked weird and I thought we should have kicked a field goal. Honestly I can question this offense all day at this point.
What is an entitled fan issue? I don't see anyone being unhappy about the win; just expressing their concerns over the level of play from our 1st Rd QB in a football forum. Maybe the fan base is a bit entitled over good QB play, I guess.

I'm talking about accuracy downfield and on out throws. He is not accurate.
You can make a highlight reel for every QB if you leave out the inaccurate throws. I could probably make one for Jamarcus Russell. It's the throws downfield into tight windows that I want to see.
Not jump balls or wide open stuff. Jump balls are a 50/50 proposition. Between two defenders, it's often the WR highpointing it or frequently an INT.

I wouldn't say BB was "very complimentary" of Jones postgame, or that he was "pretty clear" about his decision to start. He refused to use the word "start" or "starter" during the week -- he leaned heavily on the phrase "full workload".
As far as his postgame comments, he showed respect and praise for his QB who demonstrated mental and physical toughness. He had a handful of positive plays. I don't think the praise was glowing, nor should it be - he didn't play a very good game. BB basically said he made some good decisions and had some good plays, and that overall the offense needs to execute better at every level (including the "quarterback" when referring to the needed improvements in execution).
I'm far from convinced Jones the ironclad starter going forward. He's getting the opportunity to play right now in order to see if he can improve and elevate his game, and so the team can figure out what they have in him. How long they'll give him, and what their tolerance level will be for poor play, remains to be seen. If nothing else, I expect a legitimate, head-to-head QB competition next offseason barring Jones really stepping things up over the final 9 games.

It's when you give examples of QBs with 3 or 4 years experience as being good (when both QBs were questioned as 2nd year players) while not having the patience with your own.

The throws to the boundary aren't accurate? Look damn good to me.
"He is not accurate", as if the book has been written on a 23 year old rookie who's played in fewer than 5 career games.
I don't see it, man. And if Zappe isn't accurate, I'm not sure what that makes Jones, who's had plenty of issues throwing the ball downfield and towards the sideline himself.
I trust Zappe a lot more throwing those 12-16 yard outs to the boundary than I do Jones.

Your comments are fair, but still, I didn't get the tiniest inclination from what he said that Zappe had any chance of getting into the game on Sunday, nor does he for the next game vs the Colts, barring major injury or totally unacceptable play on the field.
For instance, Jones did throw a pick-six on a terrible throw, only it was called back by penalty, but we saw no move towards Zappe. There was one tipped ball that was an actual INT, and another I felt should have been an INT but the Jete defender dropped it. If Zappe really is viewed as Plan B by the coaches, IMO he would have been put in shortly after the nullified pick-six because, overall, Jones was not having a great day.

There was no defender in the middle of the field. Having Jakobi running back toward the LOS when Henry was already there was mindless and dumb. That play needed Jakobi going upfield. There was no defender there. The Jets sold out and got deked by a playfake. They had a spy on Mac, but otherwise, Meyers was free for a TD.
It's Patricia's job to design that play properly.
Have a look at it on replay instead of the freeze frame clip. You'll see wide open space.
I said once Mac started moving upfield he is blocking.
Watch this on replay in motion and you'll see the big problem with play design on this play.
The timing is off because Mac is doing RPO, and by the time he sees the spy and realizes he can't run, Henry has already completed his route and he's by the sideline. If the play design was to look for an open Henry immediately as first option, that's one thing. But the easiest way to get a yard there is for Mac to run it. Once that is taken away, you have wide open space for an easy TD as the spy commits to Mac. And what happened? Jakobi is running toward the LOS, Henry is blocking, and there's wide open space behind both of them. That's an easy TD. Why was the play designed that way? It's bad.
Watch it on replay in motion instead of this freeze frame and you'll see the timing is off.
Why are you so certain this is poor design and not poor execution? Especially the Meyers option route that seems like good design and a bad choice by Meyers.

He's not even trying to beat the defender off the line.
I can only guess what this is because the timing looks bad, but I think it's supposed to be RPO with one option being a screen pass to Henry, Meyers blocking.
That's only a guess though because the timing of whatever Henry and Meyers are doing is bad.
That spy has to come off Mac if Meyers is actually running upfield or on a slant. if he doesn't, Mac runs for an easy 1st down.
