Somehow I can't picture Belichick leaning back in his easy chair tonight, smoking a cigar while basking his mind in the accomplishments of his 4-4 team.
Well... maybe after passing Halas, but the point remains.
He hit Jones well after he got rid of the ball. That was a penalty 20 years ago. You can’t hit a QB after he has thrown the ball. That has always been the rule. And launching at a QB has been a penalty for a long while.
And the INT was a miscommunication between Jones and Meyers on an option route. Although I am inclined to blame Jones for it, it could have been Meyers fault.
BTW, I would never have thought the Mac hate would get so bad that Patriots fans on this board are upset that a pick six by the Jets was overturn by a roughing the passer call. A call that was correctly called because he hit Jones after he got rid of the ball.
Sorry, I remembered this play and immediately was surprised that Mondre broke to the right when he had one guy in front of him and the whole eft side of the field was wide open. If you didn't already know what happened, what would you have predicted about this run from this point on?

I think it was called because it was a late hit, but there a several possible reasons that could be called roughing the passer. I think the clearest reason was because it was a clear beat after he got rid of the ball and he didn’t try to pull up.
If you so much as breath on a QB that becomes a roughing the passer penalty. That's what was called today.
Tackling QBs has been reduced to Touch football. That was barely a love tap @:55 mark. I'll take it even though it was unjustified because it helped us win. But that doesn't change the fact that Mac Jones made a HORRIBLE decisionand throw that was only saved by the referees throwing the yellow flag there.
Hard to see the team spending in the off-season especially after all the spending last off season, with the buyers remorse from that free agency spending, judon was the best FA of them all.. however I think Thornton will be a player for us, if anything I see some trades, or other type of in house contract tweaks going forward ..
I mean, Trubisky, Darnold, Mayfield, Goff, Rosen, Jordan Love, Daniel Jones, Dwayne Haskins, Mariota, these are just some of the 1st rounders from other recent drafts.
The rare thing is finding a Josh Allen or Mahomes.

I did not know that you can move backwards when you receive your own punt and have a touchback? I need some help here, i was at a sports bar. Your motion has to stop for the ball to be downed at the spot where you stop? So let's say Slate caught the ball on the Patriots punt at the jets 20 and started running towards the endzone. He then stops at the 1, no motion. 1st and 10 from the 1?
Dudes I've been a Pats Fan since 1984 when I migrated from another country. I remember the lean years that said: Hugh Millen and Tommy Hudson are better than Mac Jones.
