OT: NFL Week 5 Other Games

I don't get Indy's strategy. I can see getting an older QB as a stopgap while you try to develop a young QB that you drafted. But Indy just seems to want to go from one older, declining QB to the next without drafting a potential QB of the future. The highest they drafted a QB since Luck retired was the fourth round. I get that Wentz is young, but he was no guarantee to be good. But both Rivers and Ryan were/are stopgap QBs.
We’re pretty spoiled, but for most teams it’s hard to find a QB. You either have to stink really bad in the correct year to draft high enough to get a future top-of-the-league QB, pay through the nose to trade for a top QB, win the sweepstakes for a FA who isn’t tagged for some reason, or find a later gem in the draft (like we did). They probably haven’t liked any QBs they were in position to draft, so they try to bring in the best veteran they can find. Something tell me that this year they may end up bad enough to land that Levi’s fellow out of KY…

"One yard! RUN THE FOOTBALL!" Hmm ... When and where has Richard Sherman said THAT before?

Brady threw a 1 yard pass in the SB vs the Chiefs. On 1st and goal too. So if it works it’s a genius play. If it doesn’t you’re stupid.

Tom vultured a lot of those goal line plays.

Wilson is looking really bad right now.

Lol. 1st and goal with a comfortable lead where you have 3 more tries if it didn't work vs 4th and goal in overtime where you can take the lead in a tie game with a field goal. The comparison you're trying to make is the stupid thing.

They had 10 seconds left and no timeouts. They almost had no choice. Also got stuffed on 4th & 1 earlier.

Forgot only 10 seconds left. That one is a no brainer. The Denver one is a no brain.

It all depends on the matchups. But normally, running is indicated on first down at the 1.

If he was going to pass he should have been in shot gun where he could throw the ball away quickly if he needed to and still have time for a FG. And as we know, throwing the ball at the 1 or 2 yard line at the end of a half is dangerous and can lead to a momentum swing for the other team. Kurt Warner learned that the hard way in SB 43.

I get that teams spend decades trying to find a franchise QB. But the Colts’ strategy makes no sense. If you bring in guys like Rivers and Ryan, you need to at least try to find a young QB in the draft to try to develop behind him. They don’t even seem to want to try.

Wilson hasn't been great, I thought he was a STUD?
IF you're telling us that Mac sucks as a 21 game player, you'd better look here and compare, I don't care to see how many games.
The Record...Wilson doesn't look very good on ANY Metrics.
I thought he was a Stallion, he has Sutton, Jeudy and 2 good rbs...
Ya know why he's been sacked so much IMO? BECAUSE he bails out of the pocket early and plays#Backyardball alot(like Rothelisberger), hence getting sacked sideways behind the line.
I bet you'd see most of his sacks weren't between the hashes.
He's more backyard, like Ben, and can still make plays downfield due to broken plays....

It's the decision-making suckiness that baffles me... His arm looks good, and he seems to move-around well... But that INT to Gilly?!? I mean that was Just Plain Ol' Dumb... Not feeling the pressure often enough either...

Wilson built most of his (and Seahawks) success on broken plays and scrambling out of the pocket. Although he has (or had) a strong arm with a nice touch and arc on the football as he show many times some beautiful passes , he’s never been a pocket passer like apparently he decided he is now. And that’s not working. I don’t think he is that bad, no one can be good by accident for that long, he’s been consistent for 10 years even though on decline the past 2 or 3 years. That HC was hired supposed to be some offensive mastermind and is looking like a guy who don’t understand basic football.

Another thing maybe those receivers he had in Seattle are better than advertised, Lockett and that other guy from their years of success and playoff runs. It always seemed like Wilson was making everyone around better, maybe it was the other way around.

Damage control. He took a beating in the media and on social media and his camp wants it out there that he is hurt and that is why he may be sucking. The issue is not physical from what I see Russ. These Broncos are not riding anywhere with him.
