Pre Game Thread - Lions @ Pats

We turn the page and after a tough loss, we are hosting the Lions. A lot of interesting questions, who starts at QB, does Wynn get benched after his worst game as a Patriot. Does Myles Bryant finally get benched?

We are in the stretch of our schedule where we have games that we can win. We started last year 1-3 and pulled off 7 straight? We've been right there in every game, hoping we get on a nice little roll here.

Let's discuss!!!
why are we turning the page so quickly...i still have more to ***** about. Wynn should be cut or traded for whatever they can get. If i were Hoyer, i would sue him for putting his life in danger. Love our running game. why do we refuse to incorporate the TEs into the offense? I refuse to believe that Henry and Jonnu are that bad. Why don't we upgrade the OLine? Seems like every year we never have any depth and a few of these fools are terrible

Lions rang up 35 points on a solid Eagles D. This won't be an easy game.
They are no easy games for this Team even looking far ahead. Sucking against the Run is a recipe for Losing in Todays NFL.

Agree.

We haven't been defending the run as well as i'd hoped and the Lions are #1 in ypc.

Load the box and if Goff beats us so be it.

I don’t consider any of these games easy, but up until @vikings they should be easIER than any game we’ve had so far aside from Pittsburgh, so thats a plus. Seeing how we went toe to toe with bmore and gb this stretch is definitely an opportunity to turn things around.

Have to clean things up though. Perhaps benching wynn was a step towards that, since then no turnovers or drive killing ol penalties over a half of play.

This isn't a good position to be in. This isn't last year, where Mac was starting to roll. Zappe is not where Mac was last year, he's never played in a pro-style offense. But moreso - BB is not the kind of coach to realize the predicament he's in and just go for it - as far as letting Zappe just go collage-mode and sling it to make plays. They're going to run the ball, and do what they always do. And DET is likely to score 30, and we won't match that. Even if Hoyer is allowed to play, the game plan will be the same, and Hoyer is horrible. I expect another loss, and a really devastated fan base. Who knows when Mac can come back? But the season might be over when he does.

Definitely a lot of unknowns right now. Hoyer and Mac’s status both up in the air. Will Meyers be healthy? Will we get Mills back? These are all key players.

Only game between two 1-3 teams (assuming 9ers win) this weekend.

Looking at stats, DET dominates almost all O stats over the Pats. Both passing & rushing. It's the opposite for D stats, with Pats being better. DET -1 TO & Pats -3.
Scoring differential: DET -1 & Pats -24

Then there's the Patricia factor. Lions may just want to ball out to beat their much despised ex-HC.

This will be an ugly game. National viewing coverage: downtown Detroit & eastern Mass.

Pats win because Lions always find a way to lose.

Matt P. revenge game. Forgot about that factor. Did they really hate him that much?

On paper a low key game. In reality it's huge to the Patriots. Could well define our season.
Yep.

Lions will run the ball at Gidchaux. At will.

Is Zappe basically a shoe in to start at this point? That would add a little excitement to the season at least

Less concerned with Hoyer’s availability and more concerned with someone like Lawrence Guy being back. The anemic second level and inability to set the edge is troublesome in stopping the run. Not surprising the Pats are among the worst in the league.

On the other side, Lions have been awful against the run. No reason the Pats can’t dominate there with their two headed monster duo.

Hoyer is not a key player. You want him not playing. Better chance of winning

Yikes.....didn't realise they were that explosive on offense !!
Yes, but they put up those points against the defenses of teams like the Seahawks, Commanders and Eagles.

Had to Google it but Kenny is the son of Marv Albert.

He used to do NY Rangers hockey radio play by play in the 90's and early 2000's (don't remember when he switched out of it). He's been in the broadcast game for a while now, just not nationally.

Observations:

Lions have the top scoring offense in the league and the worst scoring defense in the league right now.

Looking at the stats at first glance their run D seems to be terrible, already giving up two 200+ yard rushing games in their first 4 games which seems to be a great matchup for us... but I think that might be skewed a bit because Geno Smith and Jalen Hurts had very productive games running against them. I wouldn't count on Zappe doing the same thing. If Mac was playing I would. I'd like to think Rham and Harris will get their yards but if they stack the box can the passing game work?

Lions are 1-3 but their worst loss was by 4 points to the Vikings who are a good team.

QB's faced so far: Geno Smith, Carson Wentz, Kirk Cousins and Jalen Hurts. Zappe is not as good as any of those guys. Hoyer isn't either.

Goff is 11:3 TD/INT so far. Looks more like the guy the Rams had.

This is the game where I think we really miss Mac. Pats beat the Packers if Mac was healthy and playing IMO. And we'd win this game easily. With Zappe it might be uncomfortably close and a 1-4 start is in play. At least we're at home so that helps.

Yeah I've seen or heard him before just never connected the dots to his father until I saw his name in writing in that tweet.
