Patriots Injury News Meyers’ Status In Question Heading into Sunday

It's been explained that the idea was to bring in Humphrey as a TE blocker, so Pittsburgh, who saw him as a WR, would switch to a different package.

Lil'Jordan was on the field for only 5 pass plays.
Too Lil' too late?

The Tight Ends HAVE to earn their salary on Sunday. Time for Matty P to get creative.

I wouldn't say his punishment is "over" when he was behind Lil'Jordan Humphrey in snaps. It's an improvement over 2 snaps, though. The issue is arguably not even about Bourne, but rather the insistence on playing Parker for so much of the game when he's been ineffective. Bourne just happens to be the most proven player at the position who hasn't been seeing the field much, so he's going to be the one fans clamor for.
First lil Jordans role is completely different I don't think putting Bourne on the field and asking him to block %90 of the time is in anyone's interest.

The way I see it he was basically benched game 1 and not game 2. His snaps game 2 we're impacted by the fact that Agholar had a better spring and summer and earned his reps and has performed in his role thru 2 games. Meyers is clearly ahead of everyone.

That leaves Parker and Bourne. Now remember we couldn't know Parker was going to put up another goose egg before the game so where would Bourne have gotten more snaps last week? And if Bourne were truly still being punished for a second week why not just give all his snaps to Agholar who has been playing well? Agholar only had like 5 or ten more snaps than Bourne.

The question moving forward is what Bourne does with his opportunities now that the punishment is over so he can get back in good graces?

A second and maybe equally or more important is how long do we give Parker? Some are already ready to reduce his snaps but by how many and how long until you cut more if he doesn't turn it around? I don't really have a good answer for this. I don't think we can afford to wait long and I don't think we can afford to have Parker be a bust.

Parker had such a strong early summer.

What happened?

Yes. His punishment is over he saw more snaps last week. Wish people would recognize he didn't do alot with his increased reps. He will continue to get reps and if he performs well he can get back to where he was at the end of last year. But after his spring and summer he has to earn them back. Meyers injury and Parker's disappearing act could create a quicker path but he still has to perform.
I don’t understand why you say he didn’t do a lot with his increased reps. He had two receptions on three targets, both for first downs. He can’t catch the ball if it isn’t thrown to him, and the way Mac was missing open receivers you can’t say the lack of targets was not getting open.

If that's the case the coaches will see it and it should help him get back in favor. Regardless it will take more than that for him to get back to where he was at the end of last season.

Ok I got to say I'm wrong why the hell would snaps go down in a week where Meyers is out. #FreeBourne
