Just a stupid take. I'm sure you weren't saying that when he was burning Gilmore in what was Brady's last regular season home game and made Pats lose a first round bye.
Maybe watch more than one game. He has his place and is great at contested catches, but like I said he doesn’t create separation. Now let’s see who had the stupid take.

advanced numbers are unkind to his play speed and how he applies it. Last season, Parker ranked dead last in average separation, per Next Gen Stats. Defenders afforded him the 11th-leanest cushion in the league at 5.9 yards off the line, unafraid of getting beat deep

Boy I really hope T Thornton heals up if he shows anything his Rookie year vets are going have to sit. That said your Offense is going to struggle if CB's are sitting on your WR's routes: Parker can't get that many snaps if he's going to be so ineffective.

I think he can be effective, but more so in the red zone where things are more congested and his contested catch ability will help. In the normal field of play I’d much rather see Bourne than Parker though, and ultimately like you said Thornton who can really put pressure on the D.

If we are in 2 WR personal and they are Meyers and Parker like last week it’s 2 guys not giving Mac much separation and having to make tight throws. We need to mix up the skill sets better.

I've seen it before, last season I thought... During one of those plays on Sunday, Monty & Trent Brown nearly knocked each other down... Fortunately Mac had just barely thrown the ball when the contact came... Something else they need to work on...

So, Orlovsky's claiming that the Pats look as unprepared... as he does on a SNF broadcast...

And I don't care if they run the same play 11 times out of 11, as long as they're successful.

Case in point: The go ahead TD drive in Super Bowl 53, I think they basically ran the same play three times in a row, just hitting Gronk, Edelman, Gronk on three different option routes within that play. The difference there was execution, Brady's experience and recognition, and of course having a cheat code like Gronk on the field. This team might need to get a little more creative at times to shake things up, but I don't think the issues on Sunday were because they were running too many of the same play.

I wouldn’t call the difference between 1.7 and 2.3 yards of separation “huge”.

Yep, if a play or formation works, then use it again until the other guys stop it... If a play doesn't work (e.g.: handing-off the ball to Ty Monty, Ever) then don't use it again.

Sometimes coaches over-think matters in order to justify or prove something.

Eh, while I hate to comment on something that is, at this point, "my sources tell me..." in regards to the Bourne v. Patricia talk, I only have 30 minutes to kill at work right now so, better now than ever:

If (and please, remember, I'm just entertaining the discussion and don't have a firm clue on the subject) it is related to such, I think Patricia needs to acknowledge a few things:

- You gotta speak to your player's interests, especially the ones that intersect with all the other players before you demand something. Just benching someone for being late and then holding them out until the end is stupid, it's an overbearing level of discipline. Patricia has never worked with Bourne and probably has not spent enough time earning his respect.

- Belichick needs to put a coach in their place if that is happening. It provides a conduit for humility on behalf of the assistant, which is a great opportunity for an assistant to speak to the player's frustrations of being a bit in the dark on treatment. It isn't too late, at all, to do that. If Bourne is not receptive to a humble moment from Patricia at that point, then you can start to tell Bourne to grow up.

- I think Belichick would be wise to pass on wisdom on how to handle player egos to Patricia. It's what makes the best, well, the best. Walsh said it best: "Strength of will - is essential to your survival and success. The competitor who won't go away, who won't stay down, has one of the most formidable competitive advantages of all. In evaluating people, I prize ego. It often translates into a fierce desire to do their best and an inner confidence that stands them in good stead when things really get rough. Psychologists suggest that there is a strong link between ego and competitiveness. All the great performers I've ever coached had ego to spare."

At the end of the day, whatever is going on, don't hold out a player for the entirety of a game just to prove a point, if that player is also integral to your success. You set aside your ego, manage theirs, and maintain a level of confidence throughout your entire team by giving them a chance to get that win back. The amount of chemistry building that could allow has so much more benefit than dog housing the one dude who really opens up the middle of the field. This isn't a binary, you can both prove your point and let your player have more than two snaps to help your team. The only damage is found in the extremes of this: just allowing them to play and never having repercussions vs. benching them all game.
I have the feeling that BB is not exactly the guy you can trust to pass on that type of wisdom. If reports are correct, Patricia is playing exactly by BB book.

I have heard people complaining about how basic the offense was on Sunday, but this what the Pats have done most years even under Brady. Early in the season, both the offense and defense are typically pared down versions. During the Brady era, it was usually more noticeable with the defense because Brady could make up for the vanilla play calling on offense. But Mac Jones isn't Tom Brady. And this offensive line right now isn't nearly as good as most of the o-lines that played in front of Tom Brady most years.

I remember the Revis year. People were upset because the Pats started the year playing most of zone defense and Revis wasn't Revis. They didn't even start playing a lot of man until like October of that year.

Belichick has never struck me as a great wisdom passer, to your point. He seems to lead by example when it comes to being a leader. I'm sure he passes on an incredible amount of wisdom from a scheming perspective, though. If that makes sense.

There's a huge difference last year from where Parker/Golladay were (tied at dead last for 1.7yds) versus DeVonta and Ja'Marr (2.3yds). The fact that Parker was at 1.7yds the last 2 years is glaring to me (which I noted when we picked him up). His speed coming into the league (10yd 1.51, 40yd 4.45) was pretty darn good, but since his relatively magical 2019, all I see are hamstring injuries (also happened in 2016), and that's the ultimate downfall of a lot of fast guys. I really hope he rips it up, but he and Meyers can't be the 2 WRs in 12 personnel. Meyers has been successful in part because there was always a speed guy (Byrd/Agholor) that took the faster DB. IMHO, we'd need Agholor / Bourne in there with either Meyers / Parker (maybe a rotation to keep them fresh).

Thornton will be back before we know it. The hope is that he can be a difference maker at some point this season.

The first sack on Mac, during their 2nd drive of the game, was a direct result of Strange69 completely blowing his ass-ignment on 1st/10 at the Miami 40... Took them out of possible FG range...
probably true but those things happen to everyone once in a while and you have to expect rookie mistakes. A little early to make any judgements.
