Coming back
Brown, Wynn, Cajuste, Herron, Andrews, Onwenu, Ferentz
================
OUT
Karras and Mason

IN
Strange and Hines
=========
How can this be good?

Karras was also a sixth round pick, so it's not unreasonable Hines could have that level of career. Strange could be extremely good, or awful, or anywhere in between. There's a lot of hope pinned on future player development on the OL right now.

It could go either way. Probably not going to be great short term. I never liked the Mason trade.

Let's at least see them play one game that matters

Hines is going to be a future stud, really excited about him!!!!
I didn’t think him or Sherman would amount to much but I agree…Hines may be a starting G in a year or 2.

What have you heard?

Their excited about his potential, a real good run blocker, very powerful and a hard worker. Got off to a late start in camp and impressed so much that he is the top interior backup. I've already heard the best run blocker on the team.

Sure, Hines could be as good as Onwenu. As posted, we'll see.

For now, we had Mason with Onwenu as the backup. We now have Onwenu with Hines as the backup.

No we replaced Mason with Onwenu

No we replaced Mason with Onwenu
Yes, AND we replace Onwenu with Hines, unless you are simply ignoring all of Onwenu's 2021 reps.

That’s not what you said.

Last night the SUPERBOWL winning LA Rams, managed only 10 points. Their OL allowed SEVEN sacks and FIFTEEN QB hits. That's hits, not pressures. So if on Sunday the Pats OL scores more than 10 points and allows FEWER than 7 sacks and 15 QB hits, then we as fans conclude that the Pats OL is better than the Rams?

OF course not. We will only be able to GUESS at what the OL will be like until October. The first game of the season is the worst game to figure out what you have or don't have. It's the first game where game planning is involved Its the ONLY game where each team really don't have a clue as to what the other team will do. Usually it takes 4 or 5 games on tape before real tendencies start to emerge.

The only thing we will know with 100% certitude is that judgments WILL be made. Its just that we SHOULD know that all will be invalid.

I just hate that we created a hole at guard and for some reason decided we needed to patch the hole with a first round pick.
Mason's play slipped last year and wasn't worthy of what he was getting paid. If Wynn is healthy, I'd put him at RT, if not, that's where it gets very interesting. Do we insert Hines inside and move Onwenu to RT or put Cajuste or Herron at RT.

Strange and Onwenu are your starting guards.

I don’t think much of Hines but suspect because he missed almost the entirety of the offseason the team wanted to look at him before deciding on his future.

Many of the decent interior guys they cut (Hambright, Dejarlais, Russey) are sitting on practice squads somewhere. They could cut Hines tomorrow and bring in a guy they know can play… or I could be completely wrong about Hines.

Either way he isn’t here to replace Mason, Strange is and he’s younger and cheaper.
