Patriots Training Camp- Monday August 8th

The consensus is Wade operates better out of the slot than on the outside.

Jones is not not a lock because of the pot'l cap savings if hes moved.
The interesting thing RW, is the reports are stating that Jones has looked really good since coming back. I would be shocked if he's not our starting slot cb week one, especially with the success he's had against Tyreek in the past.

They missed him terribly last year. I have no interest in seeing him moved.

Just saying if Wade, Jack/Marcus Jones, etc show they can do the job, it would not surprise me if he's moved ala Harmon traded a couple of years ago.

They can't be moving another vet CB. Mills, JJ, and the safeties are the reason I thought we'd still be a good secondary without JC. Mitchell has been better than I expected but even still I'd rather not move anyone.

I see the logic, but I think the key difference is Harmon wasn't arguably the best player in his position group at the time. I would say Jonathan Jones is our best CB overall, even above Mills.

Good stuff from Reiss: The only name I'm a little surprised at is Wade, thought he was making plays.

Need more LB's in that First Group very disappointed in Ronnie Perkins based on Draft status and hype.

I wanted Perkins and McGrone to take steps forward too, because it's always good to see young guys do it (good stories, better in the long run for the team, etc).

But going into camp, we really needed 2/3 of Wilson, McMillan, and McGrone to step up inside next to Bentley, and 2/3 of Uche, Jennings, and Perkins to step up opposite Judon. As long as that's happening in the end, which 2 doesn't really matter. What worries me more about Perkins, is we haven't really heard much about Uche either... if neither is ready for a bigger role, Judon is going to have to carry too big a load, IMO.
And Judon will wear down like last year I wanted a Defensive Player early on in the Draft instead of Cole Strange.

It sounded like Slow-Quan Williams is making some plays in camp too Fourth year breakout??

The "issue" is pretty much none of our corners are having a particularly bad camp, so it's hard to pick which ones to get rid of. Ironically, we got Wade in the first place because the Ravens CB room was similarly packed with promising players a year ago.

lol, he got lucky when the ball bounced off Agholor's chest, but I think he has a real uphill battle to make this team. Thorton has been giving him a hard time.

Maybe that's why they weren't so worried about JC Jackson leaving via FA Hmmmmmm.

Ok so he got lucky on that pick. :) That said Shaun Wade looks young and promising.

He’s ok at times but that’s usually not good enough. I fear he will show just enough in camp to stick around….keeping a spot instead of someone younger who may have more potential.

The crazy thing is Slow-Quan Williams hasn't been hit by the injury bug he just can't seem to cut it as a NFL player.

That last cb on the roster is going to be interesting. Is it Wade, J. Williams, Butler, Bethel, Bryant?

This year there is a shadow roster where three veterans are allowed to move back and forth from the practice squad for the first few weeks without going through waivers or being counted on the 53.

I think Butler and Bethel are candidates.

Jones is going to play outside this year too.

I'd expect low-cost guys who likely wouldn't be snatched up by other teams like Ferentz and Asiasi to be early season practice squad members who get activated on game day. Probably one or both of Tavai/Langi as well, and Schooler for ST. I think Butler and Bethel aren't quite at the practice squad stage of their careers yet.
