NEW ARTICLE: Patriots TE Analysis, Morse’s Morsels

Wozzy, come on man, dont duck the question... Good, Average, Below Average, Terrible... its not the theory of relativity we are trying to parse here...

The coaches know... We can also figure it out... Asiasi was inactive for 16 of the 17 games last season... Dalton Keene was literally taking OTA snaps with the new players this year... in his third season here... thats vomit inducing... At some point they should have shown at least a little bit of something to justify their continued roster spot... I'd settle for good Special Teams play at this point...

and please spare me... i don't need any rationalizations based on the injury history of N'Keal Harry... Hes been nothing short of a disappointment since he got here. I know that. You know that. Everyone knows that. The coaches knew exactly who he was since day 1. Tom Curran pickup up on it from the beginning. "Water Cooler" guy...

Beisel was brought in as a free agent, played the entire season, minus 1 game. then he was cut. But he still played. And it drove me freaking nuts.
I had Keene and Asiasi ranked as good prospects before the draft happened, I had Keene above Asiasi... that doesn't mean much. Chad Jackson was the most athletically talented WR drafted in the BB era, N'Keal Harry was probably the second most athletically gifted... that means nothing once the pads come on.

Jackson was a dunderhead and Harry was softer than Charmin. It's literally in the name... draft "prospect." The draft is a crapshoot, people are unpredictable so draft picks are unpredictable. I'm not saying these young TE's will be good, I'm saying the talent is there.

Beisal started six games because Bruschi got hurt. Go look at the game logs. He played out of desperation, it's tough to roster All Pro's on your bench. He got cut immediately after that season... proving my point.

He was brought in as a free agent because Bru had the stroke. He played. He started. He sucked. Was 8nactive for 1 game. Had a hissy fit because Stacey James wouldn't protect him from mean reporters.
He sucked. He played. Which is the antithesis to your point.

I remember the Money Beisel threads peoples were hype over him coming to the Pats. People put up his nose and said that’s a hard nosed linebacker look at his broken nose he’s going to stop the run yada yada.
Then I had to watch game after game as he got abused in the run game just absolutely dominated by blockers and I recall running backs running over and by him.
I thought he had a good reputation coming from KC.
I wonder if problems understanding the defense made him play more unsure and timid.
I believe after he left here he played much better i recall him going back to KC I believe.
I think he was just played too small and didn't move well... He couldn't hold the point of attack in the middle, couldn't shed blockers... Then they moved him outside and vrabels to the inside... It was just a mess... Saving grace is they got rid of him for the 06 season...

You said BB held onto bad players, Monty started 6 games and was gone… or exactly my point.

He started 6 games in 2005, by 2006 he was gone.

He got cut in the 2006 preseason... tell us again how BB hangs onto bad players long after he shouldn't.

Here's an article where Monty reminisces on his lone season in NE, and how he was only playing because Bruschi had a stroke and went back to the bench once he returned. You used him as an example of how BB holds onto bad players... he lasted a millisecond in NE, poor example.

No regrets from Monty Beisel in Patriots stint

he played the entire season, when he shouldnt have made the team. Thought that was quite obvious.

He was active for 15 games, he started 6… then Bill cut him. Your point was BB holds onto bad players, he cut Monty. But you think this is a hill to die on… sigh.

Hill to die on? Its just a friendly back and forth wozzy... I knew from my first post I wasn't going to change your mind... But it's the doldrums of football... I thought was finally nice to get into a non- antagonistic conversation... Guess I thought wrong if you think I'm trying to "die on a hill"

BB doesn’t “hold onto bad players,” he gives rookies or young developmental players time to prove whether they belong. Players like Monty Beisel got a tryout then got fired.

There’s a great many fans who write off rookies after one or two seasons, that’s their prerogative… but they can’t complain later when a poster like myself dredges up their old posts and reminds them how shortsighted they were.

What part of “he started 6 games” don’t you understand?

If Bruschi doesn’t have a stroke Monty doesn’t start a single game and is relegated to special teams. You’re complaining about a back up getting playing time due to injury and not being very good… then getting fired.

Doesn’t support your “BB holds onto bad players” theory…. which is the only reason we’re having this conversation.

starting does not equal played in. why cant yo understand that?
starting does not mean active on game day. why cant you understand that?
HE PLAYED IN 15 OF 16 GAMES THAT YEAR. don't you understand?

If if if... well sorry, Bru did have the stroke. Bru did miss the season. Beisel was brought in.

and if that doesn't convince you that you are wrong, then N'keal Harry.

Bruschi missed 7 games, he ended the season with the fourth most tackles on the team.

Your starters on the 3/4 in 2005 were Bruschi and Vrabel inside, Roosevelt Colvin and McGinest outside. Monty was a role player forced to make some starts because of injury. He also got fired the very next preseason… a fact you’re desperately trying to ignore in your responses.

Harry what? He was a rookie first round pick who won’t see the final year of his rookie deal, he’s getting fired or traded. BB doesn’t hold onto bad players, that was a bad take.

harry sucks. ask anyone. hes been here for three years.

I believe, in parlance of gamesmanship, that is commonly known as check and mate.

I agree. We know that now, he's had a fair chance and plenty of opportunity... a world of difference between him and some later round TE's who have had very little and who potentially could still be good.

Nobody said otherwise, so you're claiming victory over an invisible enemy.
