Celtics playoff run: drive for #18

Robert Williams made a big time impact on that game. If the guy can give us another performance like that then the Warriors are in dire straits.

Both Tatum & Brown played great as well.

Tatum did not look great to me. Maybe I missed something?

Scored or assisted on something like 24 of the last 28 points. Reached the magic assist threshold for victory.

It's not perfect, but you can pretty much tell whether or not the Celtics won or lost a game in this playoff run by noting either the number of turnovers the team committed or noting the number of assists Tatum has.

Great game. Another total team effort.
Time Lord!!
But I'm very disappointed by the Garden crowd. Repeatedly chanting f-bombs with children there. Totally classless. Everyone who participated should be ashamed.
Wtf were those clowns thinking?!?

Yeah you are. Tatum had a really good game. Got his points, many of which were clutch, driving “gotta have it” iso buckets. He made all the right decisions and facilitated beautifully. Continued to play strong defense.

Yep ... u did and more.

Yes you did

Complete team effort.

Maybe it is semantics. Tatum was good, or even "really good" like Kdo5 said, but I do not think Tatum was great. Like Venecol said it was a total team effort and my game ball would go to Brown. Brown was very good on the defensive end.

His shooting percentage was still too low. Beyond that, there's really nothing to complain about with Tatum's game last night.

What's really happening in this playoff run is that Tatum's weaknesses are being put front and center. And that's not really surprising when you have a guy who's considered a top of the league guy, but who doesn't really have an elite offensive skill, and is more of a jack-of-all-trades kind of player.

Lol. Love it.

2 more until #18.

When RW III is on this D might be better than the 2008 team's D.

2008s defense was great, especially for that era of scoring points in the paint and long jumpers. There were flaws on that defense that got them in later years, primarily against more athletic bigs and outside shooters.

What I like about the 2022 defense is I think they would be elite in any era of basketball. This team has limited the best shot maker (Durant), the best NBA player and elite banger (Giannis), and the two best modern pace and space offenses. I think this is one of the all time great defenses, right next to the 2004 Pistons.

Agree.

Not trying to date myself too much but they are up there with the 80s Pistons, 90s Bulls, 2000s Spurs, 04 Pistons and 08 Celtics.

This team, like almost every other current NBA team, would be chewed up by a top end traditional center and/or power forward in the earlier eras.

I’m not going to date myself by saying I have no idea what you’re talking about.

It's not over yet, for either side...

If they don't win game 4 they won't win the series; so:

Past couple of weeks i've been watching the 1984 Celtics/Lakers series on youtube.

I watched it all live when I was a teenager but not the full games since then.

8 HoF on the floor.

Larry
McHale
Parish
DJ
KAJ
Magic
Worthy
McAdoo (past his prime then but before he got hurt was having a helluva series)
In 1984 I was 35, had been married for 7 years and had two children. Sh!t I'm old.

I laughed this morning when I heard someone again downplay the titles that Russell won because there were less teams. Someone should tell these clowns that less teams means more concentrated talent. Even in Russell's last season, when he was a player-coach in 72, the Celtics/Lakers final had close to as many HOFers playing as they did in 84.

Now let's look at the current teams in the finals. How many HOFers will there be in that group, 1 or 2 maybe?
