Howe: Pats Ecstatic with Mac this Offseason (so far)

I think there's a tiny difference between a report of optimism about a 4th round pick who has never played yet, and the 15th overall pick who was a Pro-Bowl alternate his rookie year. The latter has a teensy bit more to back it up than just some blind faith, wouldn't you agree?

Yup, exactly. The usuals clowns are bringing up Mallett and Stidham but those players did NOTHING to show they are NFL players. In contrast, Mac led the team to the playoffs as a rookie and was a pro bowl alternate. Easily the best rookie season for a NE QB

Me too.

All this talk is cheap. Show me in September torching Miami for the W against good CBs like Howard.
"torching"? Jeez man, its only his 2nd year. I just want slow, steady improvement. Thats we saw with the GOAT. Mac obviously has huge shoes to fill. He doesnt need to be Tom Brady. We may never see his like again.
But Mac has a lot of positive traits. I have faith in this kid. No idea what his ceiling is. Nobody else knows either. But he will be successful.

Long accurate powerful throws for passing yards that will force Miami and others to respect the Pat's long game. Skip the talk and make a statement out there with Jones play.

Yes vs Xavier Howard and DBs just like him.

To be a top tier QB you need to beat top tier CBs. Time to the the diapers off - **** Vermiel

My point earlier which might have been worded poorly was this is great that the work ethic might be there- but I wouldn’t expect anything different. He was drafted in the first round for a reason. If he WASN’T putting in the work didn’t have the work ethic and all that then the Patriots would have a problem.

I expect my franchise QB-to-be to be in the film room early etc and doing what it takes to get to the next level and become as great as we all want him to be.

He’s not there yet.

No he’s not but I’m glad he’s putting in the work if that’s what he’s going to be.

I just don't see the competitive advantage of releasing this information this early. It just puts more pressure on Mac. I'd venture to guess that Mac is in the top 5 QBs under the most pressure to perform in 2022.

But then I remembered similar talk about Stidham and others. So maybe it's just another genius move by Bellichick. Chess vs checkers.

We can perseverate about the draft and coaching staff all we want. The bottom line is that this franchise will go where Mac takes it. If he emerges as a legit franchise QB, the team will be fine. If not, it doesn't matter who you draft, or who calls the plays.

You guys are so cute. When you get called out, you come up with excuses. Did it take you long to think that up? You are just plain full of ****.

Why do you think this? I don't think he's really under any pressure at all.

My top 5 QB's under the most pressure:

5. Trever Lawrence - show us why you were the #1 overall pick.
4. Tua Tagovailoa - lots of firepower added. Time to put that pea shooter to work.
3. Justin Herbert - time to get your team to the playoffs buddy. You have plenty of talent.
2. Kyler Murray - keeps flaming out near the end of the season.
1. Lamar Jackson - Has regressed every year since catching the NFL off guard (like Kaepernick). Finished last place in the division. Going into your 4th year, that should never happen if you're a Franchise QB. Ravens have some thinking to do.

I think Tua might be close to the top. With all the support he has now it’s make or break time. No excuses.

Lamar Jackson has lead the Ravens in rushing every season but his rookie year where he was 20 yards short. Thats not sustainable.

Right about Tua. The rumors are true regarding Brady and Miami. Tua sucks but will likely beat the Pats opening day.

The reason why he's at #4 is because the others are closer to contact expirations or had talent, but couldn't do anything with it.

Lamar Jackson especially has all these probs related to being a "mobile QB of the future." Google his injuries. They're all things that don't get injured on QBs.

Know what Ima say it, AGAIN. running quarterbacks break. There is a guy who runs the ball, he's called the runningback. How effing hard is this.

I know I know a whole new fascinating direction, watching your star get ground down because you just cant pass up all that athleticism then "what good is having all this muscle if you don't use it."

No no no no no. QB pass ball. RB run ball.

COME ON MAN.

that was just a really bored old man rant, based on it being SO off-season.

Do yourself a favor since you're so easily triggered and in the spirit of Ian's polite request, put me on ignore.

Because Mac was the best rookie QB from the 2021 draft despite being picked 5th. Kraft put pressure on him from what he said in Palm Beach. The rebuild excuse is over (unless Bill comes up w/ a coaches excuse in Nov.). That leaked report serves to add more pressure. The drafting of Zappe is more pressure (since Stidham was basically a ball boy).

Everyone, I mean literally EVERYONE is expecting a year 2 jump. He's top 5 for sure.

Edit: to add 7 of 10 draft picks on O side of ball. Trade for Parker. Bill has removed any excuses that Mac has no weapons. Time to ball.

I really like Mac. He’s honestly the one thing to really look forward to about this team. But what the “team” thinks means absolutely nothing. Non-story.

I have no faith in Tua. Thats a serious noodle arm. Flores was right about him. Hes no franchise qb. He shouldn't even be a starter in the nfl. A change-of -pace backup is what he is. But I'm glad. Despite all the weapons, Fishies wont be hard to stop on offense
