Benefits of Patriots having the smallest coaching staff in the NFL:

1. Don't have to waste a lot of time on take-out orders;
2. Great place for on-the-job training;
3. Lateral move opportunities abound;
4. If your not related to Bill, or a FOB, or a FOFOB, you're probably making $13/hr. but w/ benefits. (Don't expect any of those green balls though);
5. Even if you f_ck up by not having enough defensive players on the field during a goal line stand, you still get to mock the media & fans w/ your coke jaw expressions. Because. You. Can.
6. Job security.
7. Some of the lowest auto insurance rates in the NFL.

Less competition for front row parking in the lot.

Less people to shop for on Holidays and special occasions.

The only one of those position coaches that feels questionable to me is Joe Judge on QBs. But I'm willing to bet that Bill is going to have a pretty direct relationship with Mac Jones this season, and Hoyer is there to fill in some gaps as well. Everyone else has at least some experience in the role that's listed, even if Patricia's was several years ago.

One of the things that I think is unique about Belichick is that he was in on meetings with the QBs and the QB coach from day 1. How many times have we seen video of BB and Brady talking during the week in his office or on the field. I think that sitting with the QBs and helping them decipher what the defenses are doing ahead of time is a key to learning how to read the defenses better on the field.

I sincerely believe that sort of relationship helped Him and Brady improve and that it will help Jones improve going forward as well.

My main worry is that the more hands-on BB gets with the offense, the more he's leaving the defense in the hands of Steve and Jerod...

This is so embarrassing. Can't these guys act like professionals. You guys aren't in some secret society inside the Pentagon. It's just football. Everything doesn't need to be so cryptic.

What a ridiculous answer. You're his damn son! Of course you know what the heck your Dad has planned. Why else would they be talking to you?

Yeah it's only a $478mm/year business, relax, have fun, and above all consult the online crowd!

2 questions:

1. How would BB answer the question if they asked him directly?
2. Knowing how your dad would (not) answer the question, and *if* (big if) he had confided his detailed plans with you, would you be the idiot son who spills the beans?

Not taking aim at you bro, just kinda presenting the point from Steve's shoes.

It's not just Steve. Every single coach answered the same way. Not one of the other 31 teams coaches or FO acts like these clowns.

It was maybe cute or edgy or interesting or whatever, when Bill was actually winning playoff games. Now, he and his staff just look ridiculous. Answer the damn questions. Give out titles like 100% of the rest of the league does. You're no longer a contender. Stop acting like a f*king prima donna. Everybody is just laughing at these fools.

They all work for the same guy under the same rules though. Maybe some of the coaches feel they should be able to express themselves more, but I'd find it unhealthy if they deviated publicly. I like a unified front. Team above personal feelings.

I'm not sure what qualifies Judge to be the QB coach. I think Bill's going to make him play caller. Poor MacCorkle.

I'm not laughing at them. Then again, I'm not prone to groupthink.

the players certainly will know who is play calling when its time, the reason for some here being pissed about the current state is actually because they don't know the right person they can complain about already 4 months ahead of the season opener

if its FatMatt, "oh he crap we are screwed, we will be horrible, he sucks, look at his stint at Detroit, BB lost it completely yaddayadda"
if its JoeJudge "oh he crap we are screwed, we will be horrible, he sucks, look at his stint at NY BB lost it completely yaddayadda"
if its another one "oh he crap we are screwed, we will be horrible, he sucks, BB lost it completely yaddayadda"

Sorry if it goes against your narrative but making the playoffs in your QBs rookie year sets teams up as contenders just because you want to be a miserable none-believer doesn't mean the coaches should. If they felt the way you do then they shouldn't be here.

I’d argue that continuing to do things in the manner that brought the team success is professional.

If you worked at a company that had been at or near the top of their industry for around 20 years changing your processes/best practices because the media and some customers (all of which will continue to buy the product) complain isn’t being professional.

I know some people look back and think Brady deserves all the credit for their winning while the organization deserves none. However, I’m not sure why you would want the team to ignore what worked while Brady was there.

Apple didn’t completely change their business model after Steve Jobs left the company and the Pats shouldn’t change how they do business after Brady left.

With Brady gone a big part of this board seems to think we should now behave like every other team, but that’s the opposite of what brought success here previously.
