DRAFT Cole Strange-Welcome to the Pats

This is rubbing salt into the wound, but did anyone else watch the Logan Hall clips on the NFL channel right after his selection. It was of Hall beating Cole Strange twice during the Senior Bowl practices..... Ouch, and just when I was starting to accept Strange, we get to watch this.
Believe once Jones at DT (could be mixing up the player) was drafted, they also immediately cut to a clip of him beating Strange. Lol.

Watched Matt Groh talk about Cole Strange and his mentioning that Strange played LT, LG and C. Something made me go look up Matt Light's info. It's eerily scary how similar the two of them are:

Strange is 1/8 in taller, but weighs 4 lbs less. Strange pressed the 225 five more times than Light.

Strange had better running numbers in the 10, 20, 40. They're Shuttle numbers are identical. And their 3 Cone, Strange is better.

I posited that BB might be thinking of Strange to replace Andrews. But what if he's the potential replacement for Wynn?

Y'all really think this kid will be a Bum?
I don't think so.
Mankins was a reach as well according to the "Experts"

did someone see the logan hall vs cole strange at the senior bowl?
rep is starting at 0:16 here i think if that guy is cole strange number 69 and again at 0:39

Given the weakness at D- line, speed at linebacker and the lack of quality cornerbacks. It’s concerning that was the number 1 priority especially at a position that is routinely filled in the middle rounds
Rounds 1 - 3 encompass approximately 100 players and is the top of the draft IMO.

The Pats have had great success landing solid foundation OL. A 70% success rate If Wynn makes it and Cajuste is still around.

1st round
Mankins
Solder

Wynn

2nd round
Light
Vollmer

Klemm

3rd round
Thuney
Kaczur

Garcia
Cajuste

Id say mid rounds begin at round 4 and end at 6.

The Pats have found some gems, but also have taken a lot of of swings to ring the bell. A 20% success rate taking a chance on 25 draft picks and finding 5 very good players.

4th round
Mason
Tre Jackson
Froholdt
Ohnberger
Fleming
Kenyatta Jones
Robinson Randall
Stork

5th round
Koppen
Cannon

Fletcher
Ocallaghan
Oldenberg
Bussey
Cardona

6th round
Karras
Onwenu

Hillard
Herron
Ingram
Larsen
Halipio
Stevenson
Mcdermott
Sherman

Anybody this late, undrafted or a UFA is icing on the cake. Frenzt and Andrews were UFA.
7th round
Welch
Elgin
Woodard

Watching Logan Hall abuse Cole Strange on those two plays reminded me how much Hall looks like a young, slimmer Richard Seymour.

It is important to note that he was playing center during both of those snaps. I don’t believe that he played any center in college but worked there during senior bowl week, to show his versatility. It is a lot to ask of the kid, to adjust to a new position on the fly, particularly when facing a top interior defensive lineman. The movement and timing at the snap are not the same as those of a guard. From what I have read, he more then held his own at the position during the week and impressed scouts and player personnel people with his willingness to do it.

Exactly. He was a grown ass man playing against future medical equipment salesman.

He’s in for a steep learning curve. And I think he’ll be susceptible to holding penalties. He has a very strong upper body.

But he’s got a thin ass. Elite big boy talent will bull rush him.

It’ll be remarkable to see his skinny arse nearly next to Onwenu, who is an elite body type for a guard.

Great kid. Workout warrior. Dominated the lower level competition. Was only a two-star out of high school.

So it’s a compelling narrative. He just needs a big ass! We call it “sand in the pants.” And outrageously poor value where we picked him.

He played center one game in college. You’re right, though. Putting him at center in the pros is a very bad idea.

We need to draft a pure center today like the kid out of Houston in the last round.

Ps he was playing center which was out of position for him. He was going against the best college d linemen in the country. He did amazingly well.

Little Billy Notgoat had the Perfect redemption pick staring him in the face - Travis Jones - and he ****ing blew it, again.

What a ****ing horrible ****ing sh!tshow of a ****ing draft it's been.
You talking about the elite competitor, the NT out of Connecticut, who dominated at the Senior Bowl? A perfect fit in New England.

Strange at 29 was the proverbial square peg trying to go into the round hole.
