DRAFT Cole Strange-Welcome to the Pats

Why do you care that he is 24. It is meaningless.
It’s not meaningless. Unless he is gonna be one of those late bloomers (which he could be) then you’re limited by how much he can grow. Coach him up? Sure, but an older guy is going to be more of what you see is what you get.

Evan Lazars live reaction was priceless, he looked like he wanted to cry

Even the Homers got kicked in the nuts with this pick you can't spin it.

They're trying their best to defend the pick it is hilarious

Well, there's always next season.... to be disappointed again.
Indeed.

I suppose that you preferred ferentz at OG and backup center.

Bill wanted a starting guard (who could backup at center) and got the guy he wanted for 5 years at the end of the first round.

Please feel free to ignore the rest of the draft and free agency.

Only one redemption scenario for this pick. Strange singlehandedly destroying the Rams D in the SB.

Shocked by the pick - like the player, but was surprised to see him go in the 1st.

Having said that, I find threads started to attack a Pats player, particularly a new one, rather ugly, honestly.

I don't know why BB went this way. Have no idea where he's going tomorrow, either, but I still hope he gets Jones or Brisker or Gordon or Booth or Dean or Chenal or Anderson or...

This will be the most optimistic take I’ll have for the night.

You do have 5 picks now in round 2-4. You better knock those out Bill.

We’re just going to have to wait and see how he turns out. For all we know this oline is going to be much better with the departure of Karras and Mason. OnWenu and Strange might be better for the team. We’ll see.

Here is a fact that some may not know - The only playoff game Bill Belichick has won as a head coach in his entire career without Brady was in 1994 when he was with Cleveland and he beat.....New England - Bill is a great football mind and he is a first ballot hall of famer but lets face it, he needs to win at least one playoff game in New England without #12 .. and I don't think its this year.

Weak draft class that is more depth heavy. Doesn’t excuse the reach, but there’s definitely less upper class talent in this draft worth spending premium draft capital on. But it is a draft that you can find value in the mid rounds. We gotta hit it big now tomorrow.

Whelp, here we go. Onto day 2. A lot of talent is left on the board and the Pats are stocked up with picks in the golden ticket zone.

  • Round 2: No. 54
  • Round 3: No. 85
  • Round 3: No. 94 (via Kansas City Chiefs)
  • Round 4: No. 121 (via Kansas City Chiefs)
  • Round 4: No. 127
  • Round 5: No. 158 (via Miami Dolphins)
  • Round 6: No. 183 (via Houston Texans)
  • Round 6: No. 200
  • Round 6: No. 210 (via Los Angeles Rams)
  • Round 7: No. 245 (via Houston Texans from Dallas Cowboys)
Draft isn’t over yet ladies and gentlemen!

Eh.

Maybe Belichick is more confident than us with Jones coming back, in regards to the secondary.

I can't speak to any other position on the defense.

Fortifying a strong line helps Mac develop.

That's all I got. But I guess just remember that we have a great game planning coach and hopefully we eat crow on this pick.

Jonathan Jones is a slot corner

I hate, I mean absolutely hate drafting an OG (any OG) in the 1st round. If you have no other alternatives and you can't trade out you draft an OC or short LT and convert him to OG. Because those other two positions have the skills to play OG. But if they don't work out at OG at least you can try them at their college position. If an OG doesn't work you're SOL. Plus, even good 1st round OGs screw up your salary structure.

Now multiply that times 100 when the guy you pick is a reach from a lesser school.
