OT: pour a sip

Razor ramon was probably a top 3 character of all time. Nwo was probably the greatest angle of all time. He's got a heck of a legacy in the wrestling world.

NWO was awesome because it was one of the first heel groups besides the legendary Four Horseman that fans popped for… until Hulk Hogan ruined it because he insisted on joining after his tired old comic-book act didn’t go over at WCW… I still think that he was sent there by Vince to destroy the competition because Vince had already moved past Hogan & the Anabolic Warrior and iinto the Hart Foundation / Degeneration X / Steve Austin era…

Vince was a genius. Hogan initially was a big loss but you are right eventually him and the other veteran egos killed wcw. Right at the same time wwf’s attitude era blew up. Wcw had more money than vince but still lost to him.

These words changed wrestling forever.

Saw my first WCW Nitro at the FleetCenter/Garden in 97 then the "Boston Brawl" PPV in 98 (I think). Lots of fun

Vince Russo also had a lot to do with destroying WCW. Toward the end those storylines involving the "writers" and "bookers" (wrestling bookers not Booker T).... stupid.

The shows were so much fun to go to in the 90s, used to go almost every show when they were in Pittsburgh. Saw king of the ring where undertaker threw mankind off the cell. Its been decades since I’ve been to one though

WCW had Steve Austin first but didn't know what they had... Dummies...

My brother & his friends were probably there too... He goes to all the shows whenever they're in town.

I remember watching that... Absolutely insane...

Same with hall, nash (first wcw stints for those 2) , undertaker, cactus, probably forgetting a bunch. They didn’t even know what to do with bret hart who was super hot when he came over

It may be scripted, it may have the plot lines of a UPN special, but you have to admit those guys are athletes with the skills of Hollywood stuntmen.

You can't script away injury when you're dropping 20' onto a table - breakaway or not. 250lb guys doing backflips off the top rope to land (safely) on an opponent is not normal.

And you got to give credit to the characters - especially those that really hammed it up. When you have guys like Austin and the Rock - huge personalities - dominating, and Vice & Co say they want your characters to be two hog farmers from Arkansas, who would go with it? Well, those two did, and the Godwins were born. Low brow? Yup. Funny? Hell yeah.

For any younger wrestling fan who hasn't seen that Hell in the Cell match it's a classic. IMHO, probably the best match ever.

If this thread is still in this forum when I return from Italia on Saturday, I’ll share a story told me about fellow wrestler Ed Leslie, aka Brutus the Bahbah Beefcake, though some of you might’ve heard it also…

Seems like this story's made it to his Wiki page, though at the time it was told me a few years ago by someone who worked there, I had no idea that this had happened... Surprised that my brother the Wrestling encyclopedia never mentioned it:

"In February 2004, Leslie caused an anthrax scare at one of Boston's MBTA stations, Downtown Crossing, where he was working at the time. He had left a bag of cocaine in his booth, which a subway rider spotted and assumed to be anthrax. The building was evacuated as a precaution. Leslie checked into a drug rehabilitation facility after admitting that the cocaine was his."

Yep, the internationally-known Brutus the Bahbah Beefcake was working in Boston... for the T... as a Collector (a position which sadly no longer exists)... inside those little booths... and he's big dude too...

Now I don't know about anyone else, but when I'm set to bump some lines, the Last place I want to be is inside something that's smaller than a walk-in closet... I'd be bouncing off those walls before lunch...
