OT : Carson Wentz to Washington

Whenever I hear "Commander".....

Whenever I make the conscious choice to mishear Commander as Commode:

You advocated for Cam last year and were bashing Mac even before he played a game. Agendas...
To see what Cam could have done with actual real NFL TEs and 2 new WRs.

Plus, Cam brought his top 5 rushing ability.

I'd hate to see White leave. He provides a lot to the offense.

I'd enjoy seeing Brady make another run at a SB.
I agree with you.
I am thinking Pats will low ball him (which I understand) and if SF sorts out their QB room this week, maybe they would not.

All over this board. Jones is already 'The Guy."

I looked at Wentz and saw potential until this trade. Coming off an injury plagued 2020 Eagles season, Wentz as a Colt reduced his INTs by 50% and increased his TDs by 60%. His completion % improved to the right side of 60%. His sacks decreased with a better OL and run game.

If Indy brings in "Jimmy the choker" they just jumped from the frying pan to the fire.
I can pull for the Wentz now that he's out of Indy but the guy has made some real bonehead moves at the wrong time.

I can't believe that Indy got so much for him.

The Titans must hate it.

Is posting about former QBs allowed in the main forum now? If so, I have a lot to say about Cant Newton.

Whats gonna happen with that Heineken WFT QB? He's good but seems like he's in that tier where he is not going to get starter money ever, might be a premium backup with some starting appearances, Case Keenum like.

Not sure how is his contract situation and desire but I wouldn't mind at all with him as a backup for Mac.

I think Brady retired because he knew the Bucs are not going to be a contender next year. If he could go to the 49ers (the team he grew up rooting for) and contend again, I could see him coming back. I think he looks at football now like the NBA where a franchise player tries manufacture an All Star team. He brought pieces to Tampa, but San Fran is already stacked. He would still probably try to bring Gronk and Antonio Brown with him.

But I never got the love for Lance. He has a lot of raw talent, but people said he was several years away from being a starter. When you are several years away from being a starter, you have no business being drafted in the first round never mind the third pick.

If the 49ers wants to contend again and there's no talks with Brady they might as well stay with Jimmy G for 2022. Lance had chances and showed nothing. I don't mind a team reaching for a QB if they feel like he's their guy (Danny Jones for the Giants at #6 for example) WITH their own pick, the trade the 49ers made to get Lance was insane and the Pats got Mac at #15 for free.

I think Shanaham is overrated and is getting on the hot seat with another elimination.

Full trade details
The Colts will receive the Commanders' third-round picks in 2022 and 2023, sources told Schefter. The 2023 third-rounder can become a second-round selection if Wentz plays 70% of Washington's snaps. The teams also swapped second-round picks in 2022, with the Colts moving up from No. 47 overall to No. 42.

If they get Brady I think the writing is on the wall for Lance. Obviously that means they don't think much of him at all. The injuries are a problem too.

I don't see how anyone could hate the Pats getting Mac for nothing at #15.

Well, Rodgers sat for 3 full years in GB before he got his shot. Lance looked bad in his brief forays on the field, but so did. Josh Allen his entire first year. Too many fans think that what they see in a players first year is what he will ALWAYS be. SOME players can improve a lot over the course of their careers. Some do not. So while it looks like SF gave up too much for Lance, we might be saying something different in 3 or 4 years. Just sayin'

Rodgers sat because of Favre, not because he wasn't ready to start. He could have probably started his rookie season or second year otherwise. It wasn't because he was raw and the Packers had to look for other starters until he was ready. Favre just refused to retire and Thompson was too chicken to trade him.

Lance is a real project and a boom or bust type of player. He is extremely raw and never played against even division 1 talent before he was drafted. He a little over 300 pass attempts in his college career. Mac Jones had almost 250 more pass attempts than Lance and many people thought Jones didn't have enough college experience. There was a reason why he started the draft process as a potential second round or at best a later first round pick and many considered him the fifth best QB in the draft. Hell, when the 49ers made the trade, everyone was convinced for a month that it was for Mac Jones and it wasn't even until close to draft time that people realized they were going for Lance.

The Bills didn't use three first round picks to get Allen. He was a boom or bust pick also who turned into a boom.

Sure Lance could turn into an elite QB, but at this rate, it could be his fourth year of his deal or his option year before that happens. But they would have wasted away most of his rookie contract getting there. If he is anything less than elite, it was a waste of draft picks.

Shanahan is ridiculously overrated. His offenses performed very mediocrely overly when he was an OC, and the 49er offense that he has had plenty of time to mold has bern meh.
Somehow he is considered “young and smart” and people overlook results.

Jimmy G to Colts would be a good fit I think. The team is well-rounded. But SF is stupid to let him go. The Lance pick was stupid and I hope they suffer the consequences. As far as WAS getting Wentz - even more stupid than any QB move recently. His original OC who had him playing to a SB couldn't even trust him going forward!?! Wentz won't be any better than Heineke.
But, what used to be a joke, Mitch T could actually be a good option for WAS or IND.

Wentz actually had a very decent season.

Indy was 9th in scoring barely missing the post season after trading punches in losses with 4 post season teams.

Losses

LAR 27 - IND 24
BAL 31 - IND 25
TENN 34 - IND 31
TAM - 38 - IND 31
LAV 23 - IND 20.
Have you looked up what Wentz did in the 4th-quarters and OT of those losses? 0 TDs & 4 INTs. He was more responsible for those losses than anyone.

I agree with the mostly lateral move to Garoppolo, although he probably would add a couple of regular season wins to their record. It's hard to envision Garoppolo ever winning a Super Bowl.

Wentz didn't work in Indy. Look at his final 8 games... he threw for less than 200 yards 6 times and he had 1 or 0 TDs 6 times. He wasn't even a good game manager and he led 0 comebacks or game-winning drives. I suppose I can see why Indy wanted to move on so quickly from Wentz but they need to end up with a better quarterback than Trubisky or Mariota or they'll continue to look stupid.

Regarding Mac Jones, I've seen a few overreaching comments, like he's going to reset the quarterback market with his first non-rookie contract. That's just ridiculous, he doesn't look like a quarterback with the capabilities of Mahomes, Allen, Watson, Jackson and Herbert. But he should be in the moderate tier mix, which is NFL starter-caliber, which technically makes you "the guy."

He needs a quarterback who doesn't f*** him over in the postseason.

Garoppolo in 6 postseason starts has 232 or less passing yards in all 6, 131 or less in 3, INTs in 5, 0 TDs in 3, etc. Garoppolo hasn't been able to even sustain the game-manager role.
