The Bill Belichick the Boston Media mostly ignores..

BB does much more that the public doesnt know about because thats the way he rolls.
??

Every ex player say he's the most misunderstood person in the NFL. Sense of humor, empathy and good person overall.
I think the "every ex player" bit is an exaggeration. Ty Law called him a liar. Amendola said he was an ***hole. Not an ex-player but wasn't Robert Kraft quoted as calling Belichick "the biggest f***ing ***hole of my life."

I'm sure Belichick has a lot of admirable characteristics but it's not obvious from his public persona. Obviously the majority of his exposure is through press conferences, etc. and he's not doing himself any favors in that area.

However, I'm sure his foundation does a lot of great work and provides opportunities for many who wouldn't otherwise have them.

This thread is full of douchbags. The guy establishes a foundation which has dispersed $2m to worthy, needy people and hes getting crapped on.
You guys are too sensitive. Nobody is crapping on Bill, just pointing out some things from the story.

Now these posts and many posters really qualify as douchebags but nobody says a thing about them:

Bob Kraft is furious, I don't blame him, Brady is a POS.

Brady cheated just like all the QBs did, except he got caught.

Law and Amendola were let go. Law was done. The vast majority of players that BB moves on from are a year away from playing golf everyday.

BB is running a business and sometimes he hurts feelings. Kraft wanted to keep Tommy and BB wanted to move on. If Kraft wants to be a mini Jerry Jones then fire BB and Kraft can be the GM.

A couple years ago, wifey and I were at the Pats @ Niners game @ Levi….at half time Linda Holliday sent out an IG post welcoming anyone to meet up with her at halftime for some swag. Wifey ran over to the other side of the stadium…and took a photo selfie with Linda..and got a BBF cap…and I wear that cap every day…cool cap…has BBF on it with a headset logo….
Couldn't he figure something out to make the initials BFB? Missed opportunity right there.

Ty Law literally led the NFL in INTs in his first season after being let go by Belichick. He also had two good seasons in KC.

At least you admit BB wanted to move on from Brady. Which was a bad business decision. For BB and the Patriots. Not Brady.

Didnt I state "1 year away from the golf course?"

Law was let go by the Jets after 1 season and he began his decline in KC. His play dropped off considerably year 2 post NEP. Plenty of ex NE Patriots hung on for years. Seymour, Vrabel, Branch, etc, but few were like Fournette.

BB wanted his team back. Brady and his drama became too much.

Brady may have put up nice numbers 2 years after leaving NE, but he will never win another Super Bowl. Even if he goes to San Francisco Brady isnt winning his 8th ring.

16 division titles in a row not good enough? 8 consecutive conference championships not good enough? Winning the Super Bowl every other season not good enough? Talk about ungrateful.

Who exactly was the supposed drama too much for anyway?? They were one year removed from 3 consecutive SB appearances. If Belichick had spared everyone the drama of sitting Malcolm Butler in SB 52 then they would have won 3 SB's in a row.

That's comical. Bold prediction, Brady's not winning his 8th ring. He already has more rings than any other franchise.

I can only imagine what people would be saying about Brady if he didn't win a 7th ring with a new team.

ENOUGH about the Brady myth that poor Tom was sent packing by the mean old Bellichick. Tom LEFT because it was a simple and correct business decision. The Pats had gone all in for the last 4 years he was here. They were in 3 superbowls and had a 12 win one and done season. Pretty spectacular results for the effort. BUT 2020 was a reckoning year. The cupboard was bare of talent and they weren't in position to add via FA. It was time for a rebuild. Bill knew it AND Tom knew it. They were NOT going to be able to compete for a title in 2020. Tom wasn't chased away. He left. He had his house on the market while he was still on the roster for christ sake. It wasn't Bellichick's decision, it was BRADY's. And it was a smart one.

People forget that the Pats were in cap hell while having a QB that cost $1MM. How do they manage with a QB that would have cost $25MM against the cap. At best Brady MIGHT have added a couple of wins to that team. But they weren't going anywhere and you know it. 2021 was a fine first step in this rebuild, but it was just that, a first step with a QB who we hope with develop into our expectations on the cheap.

BTW- please stop prattling about the Butler myth. It has been well reported that Butler wasn't in any condition to play in that game and it is insane that BB would cost his his team and himself another title out of spite. Still its a great myth, just like the BB forced Tom out of NE myth. I'd use a rolleyes imoji here, but I don't like the one they use here.

I agree, why does it even matter at this point? Even if all the BB bashing was 100% accurate, it is now ancient history. The separation was inevitable, we are lucky it lasted as long as it did. Can we enjoy the memories and stop polluting every discussion about the current team with whining about Brady?

He could've had stayed with the jetes FFS!

A bolder statement would be who will win a ring. I'll make a bold statement and say that all 32 teams will not win a ring next year. Then I'll brag that I was correct 31 out of 32 times.

I thought that calling him a fraud was way out of line.

Why spend so much time arguing about Brady if you've had enough, especially in a thread about Belichick?

The problem I see is that too many people are letting the ****-stirrers get too much attention. Why bother with them?

I'm as big of a Brady fan as there is, but I try to limit discussion of him to the other forum.

people are so damn sensitive about a team and players that don't care about them one iota....lighten up Francis!!!!

Brady was looking for a commitment from the team prior to the '19 season, they didn't offer him one, so they effectively agreed on one last season, but again that was only after the team made it clear they weren't willing to go more than year-to-year.

Also the poster I was originally responding to submitted the premise that BB wanted to move on from Brady because "Brady was a diva and BB wanted his team back."

Bottom line is Brady proved he was still playing at an all-time elite level and capable of winning another SB. I'm not dismissing out of hand that had they come to an agreement in NE they could have completed for another SB in '20 or '21.

Well reported by who?? Not the HC Belichick who had Butler active for the game. Butler also played in the game on ST so Belichick disagrees with your assertion that "Butler wasn't in any condition to play in that game."

The more realistic reporting / speculation is that it was a disciplinary situation related to an altercation Butler may have had with a coach. But if that were the case then he should been made inactive for the game and not standing on the sideline like some spectacle.

As it was, Butler was active, he was able to play, he did play, just not where he was needed most, on defense. Seems like BB wanted to win without the player while humiliating him on the sideline. There's no other explanation for dressing the player and having him standing there on the sideline in tears while your defense is getting obliterated. That happened.

There is a lot about BB we do not know, I was at this presentation at an Amer I Can graduation (which #32 founded) and BB attended, when Brown said:

This occurred in '01 my assignment was to greet BB and link him with Brown, unfortunately I had my pix taken with Brown as I thought BB was a jag making a pit stop in NE.

"Brown: I don't compare myself with anyone. Let me tell you about someone I do admire. Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots has contributed more to the work I surround myself with than any black athlete in modern times--financially, intellectually, every way. He's been in the prisons with me. He's met gang members in my home; he's met gang members in Cleveland [where Belichick coached the Browns from 1991 to '95]. He's put up money. He's opened up areas of education for us very quietly and very strongly. Imagine what would happen if Michael Jordan did the same thing."
