Surprised they didn't do something like this 10 years ago. I guess if you keep wining why change things but they knew that was a design flaw from the start.

got to wonder how adding a huge screen to the open end is going to affect wind patterns for kicking in the stadium....

They don't look like "cheap seats"..

They are completely enclosing that end of the stadium. They are not just adding a screen, there will be a concourse behind the screen. It will definitely affect the wind patterns. Wind will be less of a factor going forward.

Hmmm, I think I remember that now, ty... was kinda hoping for a home field type advantage... As long as there isn't a roof, maybe there will be something we can use to our advantage there

Enclosing the north end is fine, I just don't get the importance of two giant video screens when spectator attention needs to be on the field itself. I'm seeing too much emphasis on "amenities" secondary to or unrelated to the actual game day experience. They easily could put more seats in the stadium for one thing.

Attended the game in Miami in January and besides the disappointing on field performance, what bugged me most was the incessant/deafening rock concert audio pumped in between snaps. It was over the top and the whole time I'm wondering how anyone, even with headphones on, could communicate.
Then, I come home and watch the TV broadcast and the stadium sounded like a morgue. I couldn't believe the difference. Some technician must flip the field mike on/off switch 200 times a game.
I remember sitting in Arrowhead years ago thinking "Am I at a football game or a heavy metal concert.

Haven't been to Foxborough in years.........Is it the same deafening/sensory overload experience at Pats home games?

And don't get me started on the not-stop promotional crap they fling at the captured masses every available free second.

I'm gonna go yell at the clouds now
But given our 7 second attention spans these days, I'll probably get to the window and forget why I'm there

Indeed it is not about the wind or about the fan experience, it's about the Krafts making more money.

Bigger screens mean they can charge more for ads.

The enclosed area is designed to rent out for high end $$$ functions to try to get revenue from the stadium the rest of the year not to mention what they can get on game day.

When they moved into the new stadium, my season tickets went from the 300 section on the 40 (about where the club seats are now) in the old stadium to the 200 section in the corner end zone. I can tell you that when the action was in the opposite end zone, I could see absolutely nothing going on. And the jumbotron at that point was too small to see much of anything if they actually showed any of the action at all. Basically if the Patriots or opposing team was about to score on the other side of the field, it was time for my bathroom or concessions break since I couldn't see anything anyway. I ended up giving up my season tickets because of it.

If the Pats had a massive jumbtron at that point, I would have at least been able to watch the action.

The volume doesn't bother me as much as WHAT they play. Way too much emphasis on hip-hop, although I figure that's more an accommodation for the players (who appear to enjoy it during warmups especially). A buddy who attends games with me is a career musician with hearing issues who can't sit there without earplugs because it's too loud for him. The promotional stuff, etc. I pretty much tune out. I can't complain about much, really. The seats are good (mezzanine level at the south goal line) and about 12 years ago I found free parking two miles from the stadium I've used ever since.

At the old stadium I was in section 204, which translated to 227 in Gillette. I've got a pretty good view of the whole field but have a good pair of binoculars that come in handy for play in the north end red zone. Sorry to hear you gave up your seats, I wonder if you had stuck with it and upgraded things might've improved.

We kept them for a number of years with no luck. We just all decided that our lives were getting too hectic to spend eight (up to 14 if you count preseason and playoffs) Sundays (or Monday nights) a year dedicated to the game or trying to find people to take the tickets (pre-ticket exchange). Now I would rather go to one or two games a year and pay for great seats than go to every game.

And let's hope that, conversely, crowd noise will be more of a factor...

I sit opposite that screen in the very low 300s. That screen is too small.

Same thing happened to my seats when the Celtics moved into the new Garden. I had seats near center court in the 5th row of the balcony. They were great seats. In the new Garden, they tried moving us to behind one of the baskets - floor seats. What!?! We told them we would dump our season tickets. They reconsidered and gave us center court above the luxury boxes. We took them... for one year. The players looked like ants down there compared to our old balcony seats.

For several games during Brady's final season, including his last game as a Patriot, my buddy lucked into 4 tickets in the last row of the club seats, right near the 50. The first time he offered me a ticket, I was expecting the best seat of my life. Then I sat down and looked straight up. About 10 feet above my seat was this massive speaker - and it was pointing downward! When they played any music, I had clamp my hands over my ears. I don't know how anyone can sit there for an entire season and avoid tinnitus. I guess I got a little lesson why many of those red seats are empty during a game.
