Who will be the new OC?

SMH. So, you go from spewing that Belichick doesn't like hiring from "outside his coaching tree" to "outside the family". As if that would somehow correct your flawed thinking. Belichick has hired from outside the organization on numerous occasions. Both Executives, Coaches, and Coordinators.

**** Rehbein
Mike Woicik
Dean Pees
Greg Schiano
Jedd Fisch
Bret Bielema
Bill O'Brien

All of them had never worked for or with Belichick previously. While Belichick likes to promote from within, he's not above going out and getting talented coaches who he believes can help the team.
So...who has he hired as a coordinator from the jump other than Pees? That was my whole point SMH. The guys you're giving were brought in as position coaches. Hell, Bielema and Schiano should have been brought in with the idea of being the DC. Never got that job though.

I read that I

avoiding the Rooney rule?
So he doesn’t have to interview coaches he has no intention on hiring.
I mean teams like the Patriots have a next man up for any situation.
They must feel like it’s incredibly wasteful to interview someone when they have the contingency plan ready to go.
Is my only thought.
Bill doesn’t care or see race I’m sure like I would hope all of us.
However wasting someone’s time is something I’m sure Bill has no interest in.
I agree that Bill doesn't see race but doing stuff like this to get around the RR is why the lawsuit was filed. It's a joke.

Idk. He's consistently done this in recent years. The last DC we had was Fat Matt in 2017. I think there was a gap between Pees and Fat Matt too. Josh was the OC for a while. Sure doesn't look like he'll be naming an OC but it's still early.

Atleast we can say cool things like , "All rise for the Judge!", after he orchestrates masterful drive after masterful drive en route to a super bowl.

A brother can dream still right?

The problem overall is that we've seen stretches of bad coaching over the last 2 years and we haven't really seen any outward appearance of fixing it

If Judge is literally the best OC they can get because he doesn't question Bill or will just have the title but Bill runs the plays then this team is in trouble. Please hire an outside OC if this is the case.
IMO...I don't think Judge is the best they can get because you claim he won't question Bill. Call me crazy but the thinking is most people here won't know that dynamic at all. It's more likely that more goes into the decision then being afraid to speak up. Judge, Gase and O'Brien are probably not afraid to give their opinions.

I posted this in the thread specifically about Judge’s hiring - I don’t think Judge is the OC. I think Mick Lombardi might be the “OC” without the title in 2022. Right now he is the Wide Receivers coach. Judge was the Special Teams and WRs coach before departing to New York. They may be planning on having Lombardi handle OC duties and are bringing in Judge to help with picking up the slack with the WRs, and just generally help with managing the offensive load with a new OC, as well as helping on Special Teams (which seriously sucked last year).

Do you think Bill will have Judge take direction from Lombardi ?

I’ve felt this was the most likely thing all along and bringing judge in reinforces my belief.
