Different thread, same tired material. You are like the love child of Captain Stone and Dropkick (hint….not a compliment). Our fanbase is literally oblivious to what makes a good quarterback, who is a good quarterback, and who will be a good quarterback.
Bunch of us wanted to move on to Jimmy G / were happy to move from Tom / thought Tom was finished from like 2012 on / entertained Matt Cassel discussions after 2008 / now think Mac Jones is a franchise quarterback.
Spoiler alert: Josh Allen and Mac Jones will never be in the same category. Buffalo is going to continue to get more solid, more reliable, more dominant, because with their quarterback, you don’t have to pretend. You can literally just watch it happen, on television, right in front of you, in real time.
I think they made some efforts in that area recently with Schuplinski but he left for the NYG. I do think when Tom was here- specifically in the latter half of his career, Bill needed to pair him with an experienced OC and breaking in a new one with Tom wasn't going to work. That's my guess at least. I don't think Bill is opposed to it. For example BO'B was fairly young at 38 when Bill made him de facto OC in 2009. Josh was in his mid 20s.If that is realistic I would be fine with it, but then I have to ask myself why Belichick hadn’t groomed some young assistants over the past 5 years to do that?
I don't have an issue with retreads as long as they are good retreads. I value experience.I agree with you in changing the system, it’s a really big deal, and it affects them in many ways, but I would rather see them make that change now, than wait 3-4 years and realize they should have done it now. If bringing back retreads is the best they can do my confidence in them getting back to the SB drops off significantly.

The biggest thing for me is chemistry and collaboration with Mac.

I actually don't have a problem with BO'B as on offensive mind. I'm concerned about the chemistry and collaboration with Mac.I agree n general, but imo these retreads suck.
I think you would be challenged to find anyone on this board with the evidence to say so-and-so is a brilliant offensive mind and would be a great OC here. I certainly can't.I think that coordinators have to get more and more innovative and creative as time goes on, and I just don’t see Gase or O’ Brien that way. I think defensive coordinators would have the advantage over them. I would rather see O’ Shea, if it came down to that, but I don’t have much belief in him either. Unfortunately I think Mac Jones will have to overcome his coordinator instead of them benefitting him. But that’s just my view of the situation.
If people here know of more candidates, specifically better candidates who can come in and run this offense throw them out there, I don’t, and the fact that the cupboard is that bare really concerns me.

My only real beliefs are a) whomever comes in here needs to run E/P and b) that person must be on the same wavelength with Mac and push him to be a better QB.
Could be “greatly” with the right upgrades on offense and health. Most QB's drafted improve in their 2nd year if they get another starting year opportunity. This is born out by stats if you look at QB's drafted in 1st round who got back to back full years starting opportunity.
However, he lost his OC, a new one has not been named, he is going on his third OC in 3 years, no new receivers or OL have been drafted or traded for.
So yes he is likely to have better stats than last year, but to say "greatly" is perhaps an overstatement at the early junction.
Not sure it's dying.I have always agreed with the view of keeping E/P, until now. The apparent lack of candidates to run it seem to indicate a dying offensive system, in which case I would rather see them make the change now. If the list of candidates is this short and this weak then that’s bad news.

As one of my projects for Fantasy Data this year, I wanted to take a look at every offense in the NFL and determine the type of offense they run so I could know what to expect from certain players within the offenses to help me make wise Draft and DFS decisions this year. By doing so, I will be...fantasydata.com

Yep, Jones was the person who taught O’ Brien Alabama’s offense. And I’m not being sarcastic, that actually happened.Don’t know how much it matters but O’Brien at least has some continuity with Mac.
Dying? I thought Brady brought elements of E/P to Tampa when the "riskit bisket" was not working and won a SB? Why is Brady mimicking if it is dying?
Seems like the majority are running Shannahan and WCO with a few Coryell and very few modified E-P. I'm all for moving on from a complicated offense. Which offensive scheme is the closest to what Saban runs? Not sure it's dying.

To your point the trend is clear. That’s an interesting article. Thanks RW
Not 100% sure. Seems like a complete hybrid of West Coast, Air Raid and RPO.Seems like the majority are running Shannahan and WCO with a few Coryell and very few modified E-P. I'm all for moving on from a complicated offense. Which offensive scheme is the closest to what Saban runs?
