He was a contractor who more than fulfilled his obligation to my team of choice. Good enough for me.And the fans don't owe him a damn thing, either. He didn't win anything for the fans. Only 15 year olds believe otherwise. He doesn't love you back.
What's the NEED for them to release that story on Sat before the games? Did it provide a valuable public service or was it simply for their own benefit? The is no praising of some 'reporter' releasing this kind of 'news' 2 days before originally intended because it is a self serving move. These 'reporters' then get on social media and defend themselves in any and all situations.
Yeah it's their job I still think there could have been a way to let Tom announce it on his own terms. No win situationIt is their job. If Schefter has a verified story that Brady is going to retire, he has an obligation as a reporter to report it. These guys have no obligation to sit on a story because Brady or you as a fan does not like it. They did nothing wrong. They did their job.
Unless there is something coming down the road.. this announcement was a total WTF moment for me.
Sorry, but that is more than just "petty" to not even mention ANYONE in the patriots organization. To the team that drafted you in the 6th round/trusted you as a starter when no one had heard of you? the team you went to NINE superbowls with. To the city your kids were born and raised. To the place that you became the greatest football player of all time? How about the hundreds of teammates and friends and coaches that helped you become the player and man you are today? How about the millions of fans in NE area that cheered you for decades?
Whatever, call me "butthurt" if you want but I've always thought of TB12 as a very classy guy not above forgiveness and he has ALWAYS been very quick to express gratitude to those around him.
Maybe this is premature, andI will very happily eat my words if he makes a 2nd post dedicated to NEP and his gratitude for certain people here...
In other words, I think its a bit hurtful to ALOT of people (not talking about myself) that your only acknowledgement is to "like" a tweet from Bob Kraft.
If he does retire as a Patriot, it will be obvious that there was not a good way to handle this. If he does sign that 1 day contract, then I can say that the Bucs deserved to be highlighted and thanked today. If he doesn't do something for new England fans however, this will all make him look weirdly and bizarrely petty in a way Brady never was.
That being said, he's going to give a retirement press conference and speech, and it will be more all encompassing, obviously.
Thinking back to Peyton Manning, do you remember Rob Lowe's tweet jumped the gun for Manning? So Manning never made an announcement in social media. He did give a press conference however when he talked about the Colts at length.
He served his purpose. He was a contractor who more than fulfilled his obligation to my team of choice. Good enough for me.
They are sports reporters and I'm tired of having people say 'it's their job'. The media as a whole is completely out of control and there is no public service to leaking this information early. It's not some critical public service announcement. When they choose to do so because it makes them 'look better' at their job then they must also accept that they look like clowns. They want it both ways. Leak something like this that serves no purpose to ANYONE except themselves and then not be criticized for it afterwards. It is their job. If Schefter has a verified story that Brady is going to retire, he has an obligation as a reporter to report it. These guys have no obligation to sit on a story because Brady or you as a fan does not like it. They did nothing wrong. They did their job.

Pretty sure Kraft would not hesitate to overrule Bill.Would be quite a thing if Brady feels petty like this because he wanted to do something like sign a one day contract and Belichick said no. Man what a turn of events that would be.
Ridiculous
