Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Bills beat the Pats

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

Would be nice to see a game where we had Harris and Stephenson again.

Don't think JJ Taylor got mentioned all game.

Showing he can play is fine, but he's going to be against Allen twice a year. Either we have to build a D that can just take Allen out of the game, or we need Mac to develop to the point where he can play series after series at Allen's level.
Did JJ play?! Sorry I didn’t see him (and not because he’s short!)

If the Steelers lose (they’re going to), does a win over Jax clinch a playoff spot?
Need a Raiders loss too. Playing with ESPN’s playoff machine, the only way I get the Patriots out (with a win over Jacksonville) is with the Dolphins and Raiders both winning out.

I just went thru the playoff machine and Miami would have to beat both the Saints and the Titans for the last game to be meaningful for them. And even then it's highly possible for the Patriots to make it in at 10-7 with a loss to the Phins.

The Patriots must beat Jax and they are practically a cinch to qualify.
Thank you for “calculating “ this….I live in Florida now and despise the Doofins

I read that Wynns option has been picked up, is this true?
Yes - they needed to pick it up by May of this past year.

Outside of Jonnu, he’s been the most disappointing player to me this year. Just way too inconsistent especially since he’s shown to be capable last year.

Here's the really big question about the last game against the Dolphins.

Say the Patriots beat the Jags and clinch.

Do you want them to play hard in that last game even if the division championship is possible with a Bills loss to the Jets?

I ask this because the Patriots would be playing @ Tennessee, @ Indy, or @ Buffalo?

If Tennessee beats Miami next week, they'll be the #2 seed. That means a Patriots loss against the Phins sends them to Tennessee rather than Buffalo or Indy.

I think I'd rather play Tennessee.

Definitely NSFW... Stephon Diggs has a potty mouth!

I would think the plan would be to attempt to fill the holes this offseason that we see right now. (Defensively that would be the front 7, safety assuming Dmac doesn’t return and offensively a stud wr and OL depth.) This is the time to spend on quality players with the qb on a rookie deal.
They did spend. Unfortunately they didn't get much for it outside of Judon. Bourne is the only other one living up to the contract they gave out. And unless they chance the way they scout and draft they are not getting a stud WR. This team could use a couple. On a true title contender Bourne and Meyers should be WRs number three and four. Along with at least one TE that can block and get open on a regular basis.

It might be Mac's year 3 or 4 where things come together. Most of the contracts we signed this off season are structured to make it easy to get out of them after two or three years.

I’ll keep it simple. First off, Bills outplayed the Pats and it is not up for debate. Although it seems the last 2 weeks that the calls were not in the Pats favor, you can’t give them anything to call regardless. No flinching, no holding, no stupid penalties. It bothers me that plays break down and they couldn’t find the hold on Judon on Allens 4th down conversion flick. Is what it is.

Couple of sore subjects. Ok maybe more than that.

Wynn was god awful today, i want to say his man got away from him 50% of the day and he did just enough to protect the blindside from being sacked almost every play. Awful

Defense was abysmal. Chalk it up to a fine game plan and a excellent qb using what was given to him. He went deep maybe two times today. Killed this defense in the short to medium field all day in a very decisive manner. No panic in him. Sound familiar? And oh yeah, Steve Young like legs today. Not sure if a spy would of helped today? Allen was hot and without interior pressure he would of found the open man.

Barmore has been the most welcome rookie to this defense in years. His rookie penalty cost this team a get off field which they didnt do today. He’s safe, he’s going to be a monster and deserves a break. He didn't have much today but neither did anyone on the front 7. They weren’t stellar at running the ball today but they didnt have to be. Basically used the pass as their run and created opportunites when they did run the ball to get like 3-5 ypc which is efficient.

As mentioned pass protection was bad and so was Mac. He looked terrible actually. He’s played against good defenses and played well. He was able to redeem himself in 2nd half vs Colts. I’d say this and The Saints game was certainly the worst of his career. He looked Zach Wilson bad today but give me a break to the people that are saying he hasn’t played anyone yet.

As bad as the pass protection was the running game got it done on the ground. I’d like to see the Pats start the game running outside and then move the runs to the interior to create the holes once they adjust. Harris was A+ today. Not sure of his status today of availability but he came through. So it seemed a tale of two lines today as far as pass blocking and run blocking.

Anyway, this season has been one of serious ups and downs. So used to ups the last 20 years with Brady so this rebuilding has taken a little bit of getting used to. I have found it to be fun and it is taking me back to my roots in the 80’s and 90s where every win mattered. Rebuilds were every 3-5 years. Losers can come into this forum and troll if they want to and discuss the demise of the dynasties. Doesn’t take away from the fact that they happened. I feel like as fans we’ve leaped back to what every other fan goes through and I’m ok with it. It’s been fun watching this team come together with the uncertainty that comes with being guided by a rookie qb.

Well said.
So then what do the Pats do with a bust LT in Wynn who they burned a 1st round pick for and already extended next year for 11m.

.

Bio says she's ex-media, so maybe she's home, barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.
That was my first guess - just some random woman.

Bill’s worst decision of the offseason. The guy is set for next year whether he’s with the team or not.

Just shut up dude. You weren't even watching the Pats - you admitted you were watching the Bucs game in the Bucs forum.
Not sure what people are watching. Maybe I’m way off base here. Doesn’t seem like an arm strength problem to me. His movement in the pocket seems to have improved, but he seems to have lost any rhythm with the receivers. Either that, or guys aren’t running routes where he is expecting them to be. On one of his incompletions to Henry, Henry immediately started patting himself on the chest, like he ****ed up. The passing game just looks to be out of sync. Sure, he has thrown some stinkers, but they (imo) look more like mechanics issues.

The pass game has been on a steady decline since the start of the month. That's not what you want to see in December. Also the self inflicted calls ... Starting to see a trend there ..not good.

Is it over?. No but as it's been said 100000 times ...team isn't built to come from behind and win (were damn good at getting close tho). Makes the margin for error on defense really small esp when the pass game isnt operating the way it should.

Also tip your cap to the Bills.. it's ok to. Josh Allen made some really nice plays to extend drives and convert critical downs. Their running backs have been often criticized (their whole run game actually) and today they were the knock out punch. They were running over our players on almost every run. They wanted to prove a point and did.

Corner Depth and A dynamic playmaker on offense in the WR room is very needed.

Left Tackle too.

the tone of the day seems unanimous - lack of urgency.
Offense was lackluster the first 3 quarters (besides the 2nd drive for TD)
Defense was not stopping the run, or the pass. The soft zone was insanely maddening.
It looked like a D that was hoping someone else would make a play, and that if they walk their roster out there, they could just win based on the logo on their helmet. And on O - there's no clutch winners yet. Harris is the closest to a "on my shoulders" kind of guy. But, when we start behind, it lessens his impact. I believe Mac can become that kind of QB, but it's unfair to put that expectation on him this early.
NEXT YEAR
We need a Kupp-like #1WR, and year 2 for Mac/Bourne/Smith/Rham to really breakout to help Meyers/Harris/Henry. And on D, all new LB's. Maybe Bentley can take HT's role, KVN could go, and McMillan/Jennings/Perkins/Uche need to take over or be ousted by difference maker.
In the secondary - Phillips will have to take over for DMC as the leader. If we don't keep JC, we're starting over at CB. Hopefully J. Jones can come back strong, and maybe Wade will become something?
