So potentially missing Agholor, Bourne and Harry for the most important game of the year.
Yikes... I'm sure Bill and Josh will come up with something, but Gunner being the #2 WR doesn't sound great. Sounds like a great week to run a ton of 2 TE sets. Or maybe they'll just run the same running play 40 times again.

It WOULD be funny,

Of all the WRs we have, Bourne is the most important...

If he is OUT, Patriots are in big trouble...
Agreed, the same gameplan that worked in Buffalo may not work NE.

The NFL is no longer testing vaccinated players unless they show symptoms so I assume all these guys are either unvaxed or have symptoms and it is probably remote that they get 2 negative tests by Sunday. Fingers crossed though.

Are we sure with Omicron's breakthrough rate that this is still the case? This article says that testing remains for vaccinated with caveats (which contradict Bourne's tweet of "no symptoms" or maybe he was tested PRIOR to the new rule and the news is just breaking?).

From everything I've read I was under the impression that testing of the vaccinated stopped this past Sunday and they would only be tested if they were showing symptoms.

so if he's asymptomatic, doesn't that mean under the new rules he's good to go? or am i missing something here? why did he get tested in the first place?

Which highlights the gap in information. Obviously Bourne fits criteria of:

Vaxxed
Asymptomatic
COVID protocol restricted

As Sesame Street taught us all...one of these things is not like the other...

We could take multiple viewpoints:

Hysteria: OMICRON will destroy the Patriots' season!
Conspiracy: This is all Goodell's Plan
Laissez Faire: It is what it is.
Bob Marley (singer, not comedian): Every little ting gonna be awright.
Bob Marley (comedian, not singer): We're just a buncha dinks.
etc, etc, etc.

If Bourne has gotten the vaccine and has no symptoms, he can return to the team once he fulfills one of the following criteria:

1. Two PCR tests that are either negative or produce a “cycle threshold” (CT) value of 35 or greater

2. One PCR test that is either negative or produces a CT value of 35 or greater, plus a negative Mesa test result taken with 24 hours of the PCR test.

3. 2 negative mesa tests.

Yeah I'm wondering why he was tested at all. Maybe he had to for some other reason (personal life?) and produced a positive test from that, and had to report it? Not sure if that's a thing.

or maybe he didn’t know the new rules and voluntarily gave himself in for a test…who knows. What sucks is that even if he plays on Sunday he’s missing valuable practice time before the biggest game of the year

Fully vaccinated players and tiered staff will be subject to "strategic, targeted spot testing as directed by the NFL Chief Medical Officer [Dr. Allen Sills].
"Such testing will include, without limitation, sample selection based on position group and staff cohorts. The NFL CMO will notify each club ICO as to which individuals will be required to test each week. If COVID infections are identified, the NFL and NFLPA medical experts will determine additional mitigation efforts, which may include, additional testing," the memo states

NFL still tests. But it is now easier for Bourne to return. Odds are good we can play Meyers and Bourne.

So there is random, spot testing of vaxed players? Man, the NFL is just so dumb.

Patsies better ****ing hope for another hurricane-force windy day on Sunday, because without any ****ing WRs that’s the ONLY ****ing way they have even a ****ing glimmer of hope of defeating the Billdos again.

God Hates Us Patsfans All.

Weather is supposed to be nice. 40 degrees with low wind. Our defense needs to have its best game of the year.

Maybe he had to for some other reason (personal life?)
A positive test in the same household very likely still precipitates a test even if vaccinated.
