Jones just didn't have the time on that one. That was one of the more slow-developing trick plays I've seen in a while. Great call, just wasn't executed as well as it could have been.
It took so long bolden struggled to get the ball back to Jones as the pocket was collapsing

Buffalo 7-0

I dont expect any help today from the other AFC teams...

Just have to take care of business when the Bills come into Foxboro !

I dunno. Kicking a FG late in the 4th seemed like giving up to me.

No, it made sense. They almost stopped the Colts on fourth down at midfield shortly thereafter.

I was a bit surprised that the Pats returned from their bye this past Tuesday...I would think that with a Saturday game they would have been practicing on Monday.

The rules may have prevented that. They are mandated to have a certain amount of time off.

A poor performance in a big game against the Colts makes the Bills game even more important, and they may not be at full strength. Injury watch:

Harris/hamstring: will be limited again to start the week. If he cannot practice fully by Friday, I would expect him to miss another game.

Agholor/expect concussion protocol

Harry/expect concussion protocol

Bentley/knee. Severity unknown so could be anything from practicing to IR.

Davis/ankle. Severity unknown.

This reich vs BB matchup seems to be working for reich. He even called the TD - "patriots special" yesterday. I cant for the life of me understand why we didnt run between the tackles espcially short yardage on 4th and 1 etc.

im still struggling to understand kicking it on 4th and goal down 13.
Trusted his D to hold and they had done a great job after the first TD. The taylor run isnt what was expected.

I don't disagree at all, but understand you're going to give up in the passing game with such an alignment with Godchaux at DE for significant snaps (best run stuffers are usually not as talented in the pass rush) and it's likely going to take a very high pick to get a true NT that can stay on the field all downs.

That's the issue with the majority of NFL teams' offenses NOT looking like TN and IND (and even the Pats) - in building the Patriots defensively there's trade offs on the roster to construct a defense that is flexible, but not "over built" toward stopping a particular type of offense.

That's why the "big nickel" - otherwise these teams with 3 good WRs or multiple good TEs will feast in the passing attack conversely.

If there's a true 3 down NT available (i.e. free agent or draft) that's affordable (not taking significant assets to get whether $$$ or other picks) sure - go grab him as that's a need.

(as is a replacement MLB for High...a potential replacement for or big $ signing of JC Jackson...a potential replacement for McCourty...etc, etc - it's not like there's just no other decisions to consider)
That's why I said Jordan Davis. I really think he could be special.

This. I felt we had to go for it. If you force a pass, there is a chance for dpi. Our season long issues all reared their head for this game. Our Jekyll and Hyde run defense, poor st, and bad short yardage offense.

That still doesn't make any sense.

If he trusted his Defense to get two stops, Then it is STILL better to try and score a TD.

Score a TD, you're down 6. Get a stop and you can drive down and get another TD or Kick a GF

Don't score the TD, your STILL down 2 scores, and need to make the two stops you're confident the defense can make.

Either way Worst case scenerio were down two scores, and so "trust the defense" has to make TWO stops regardless.

And how much are you willing to give up to get him given he's likely to go in the top ten or twelve picks????? Sure, if he drops like Barmore makes perfect sense. If not, it's going to cost.

I’m upset too but saying Jonathan Taylor is overrated is a reach. He’s solid and consistently had yards after contact in spite of wentz
That’s what impressed me, many times he was stopped and got 3-4 more yards.
