I almost feel sorry for this JEST fan's awareness. . . .

After Trevor Lawrence, I have Mac Jones rated as the second best QB prospect in the draft.

I have a feeling he's going to wind up landing right in Belichick's lap.

Would that not just be sooo much like the Jets and the Pats ???

The Jets take Zac Wilson at 2'nd overall and he's out of the league in four years.

Mac Jones lands at the 15th spot with the Patriots, is out of the starting gate quickly and wins a Super Bowl before his rookie contract is up.

Wanna bet?

what's really funny to me is the "collecting players" mindset fans have... "We have the far better passer." Yeah but you brilliantly decided to play your home games in a lake effect hazard, dumbasses. So that's what you've GOT to be able to win in. Your strategy? Get a guy with a cannon for an arm, so he can get something like 100 passing yards. Our solution? Beat TF out of you at the LOS and run the ball unopposed. "You can go down the roster player for player..." Reminds me of T.O. saying he won his part of SB 39 or whatever. Actually that might have just been an Onion story. But it reminds me of that.

Some of our own supposed fans are easily as bad. We are controlling the game and they're still singing their usual one-note song about playcalling. If the Pats had called the game the way they wanted they'd just be throwing up random jump balls into a damn vortex.

"Gee, it's almost like they just look at whatever situation they're in and call the game based on that. Even if I ran the score up in Madden a completely different way."

After the first Giants SB I saw a lot of stupid **** like "we win that game 9 out of 10 times, this was just number 10." I might have even said it a time or two. Well that's dumb, you play that game one time. We lost it one time out of the one time we played it. I know what you want to say, smart guy, no we lost it 2 out of 2 times. Well, that second Gintz SB put a big exclamation point on the point. No, that wasn't a game we "should have" won either time. It was a game we lost, both times. With "position by position a better roster" or whatever TF you want to say.

You play the game and both teams try really hard to win. The team that did played that game better. If you fail, you try again. People make everything this grand Game of Thrones epic saga thing. I mean, we're worse than most about that, being the dynasty. The one thing that keeps your dynasty alive and kicking is believing deep in your bones that you can lose any given week on any given play and all that stands between you and that is execution.

But go ahead, Buffalo, win the power rankings :D

Hey know what's funny? I saw a sign on a little segment about how Buffalo was a "dynasty" in one conference in connection with the game. A guy had a sign that said "Jim Kelly is God." Holy crap, that looks quaint now.

As Herb Brooks said:
I'm not looking for the best players, I'm looking for the right ones.

This is even more true in football than in hockey. Fans can’t really evaluate how players will execute in a system and so physical talent is the prime currency for the way fans and pundits judge overall ability.

Bill Belichick said "We're not just collecting talent, we're building a team." Similar sentiment. The local savants had a lot to say about the terrible terrible "spending spree" without knowing why we spent when we did, and with crackpot reactive ideas about how BB was "proven wrong" in a couple of weeks on 3 and 4 year deals.

Except for this guy:

“I think it's safe to say (for me at least) I hope we kill them because I'll always hate them as long as I'm alive.“

I've been there a few times and most of the Colts fans on that forum have wanted a moment like this for a long time. They look at this game and see a fair fight. A chance to really rekindle the rivalry in more or less even terms. They have every reason to be confident, they have a good team, with a great OL and one of the best RBs in the league today. They know we're good too. But so are they.

It's gonna come down to who executes better on the day. If they're confident, I'd say they have a reason to be considering that they're a team with a fair bit going for them and they're going to be an interesting matchup for us due to the fact that we're going to be challenged to find ways to take Taylor out of the game all night. I'd say our defense is substantially better than theirs as is our special teams and am counting on that to be a difference maker. If Ertz gets pass happy and tries to play hero ball we probably win. but it's gonna be a good matchup. The rebuilt Colts are a decent football team.

I had a glance at a Bills board this morning and it was full of deluded nonsense..

"We own the division, this was their Superbowl"

"The refs handed it to them as usual"

"When you're the dominant team, everyone ups their game against you"

"They have better coaches, but player for player, we're far superior"

Etc
>"When you're the dominant team, everyone ups their game against you"
Welcome to our world the last 20 years !!

>"They have better coaches, but player for player, we're far superior"
As Bill would say its not just about collecting talent, its about building a team...

>"We own the division, this was their Superbowl"
huh, last i heard Pats are the #1 team in AFC.

>"Refts handed it to them as usual"
You mean like the unnecessary roughness call on Myles Bryant, when Allen leaped in the air from inbounds to get the first down...

BB gave a makeable 5 yards to TO on every down. Philly wasn't smart enough to take it. Classic Bill game plan.

I'm sure our GDT guys would have been like "Again with this soft zone! They would have gone 9 for 9 in super bowls if they just did what I said."

"This is their Super Bowl."

Projection much?

Dudes, you know the Super Bowl is our Super Bowl. As in, we own that big silver football more than any other team in the league.

I get it... for 4 years it seemed like our possible ascendency was just plain blocked by Buffalo always winning the conference. And only the conference, mind you.

Habitual losers.

You know you hear how the conferences were so imbalanced. Maybe not as much as we tell each other. Not long after the Bills disappeared from Super Bowl history, the Broncos won 2 straight. And they were like unto a voice crying in the wilderness, "Prepare ye the way of the Pats."

Is that what these guys want, the ability to make the AFC the perma-loser again? If you like the AFC at all you should be glad we're nipping that **** in the bud.

Two more weeks, they get their Super Bowl in Foxborough. Ironic, yeah?

PS, it's also interesting that Archie Bunker, in an episode I recently caught, actually looks like the conscience that some recent fellow-travelers on the national scene don't have. Like "oh he has abhorrent views but underneath it all he has his moments of decency."

His character has to be relatable, that doesn't mean that the people he's a satire of do.
