I know people don't want to hear it, but I will give a pass for "it was the times" as there was slavery pretty much across every continent among all races. But bad is bad, no doubt.

It's also why I love John Adams for other reasons. He gave no shyts about the time. He called slavery what it was. EVIL.

Shoot, even Lincoln would have considered postponing emancipation if he thought it would preserve the Union.

Partial pass. To me it knocks him out of the running as a sage on the usurpation of other men's labor. It really doesn't help his case for the men being created equal either lol....

I think he's pretty clearly good on freedom of religion... or if it's a mixed legacy, it's a less obvious one.
