K Quinn Nordin heading back to PS

Thats good news... Been kinda worried Folk won't make the full season with that lingering knee issue

It's like being a Mormon with a 35 year old hot wife, and with a beautiful 20 year old second wife in the wings that is even hotter, but perhaps less reliable.
Don’t move on from the mid 30s hottie. She knows what she’s doing and that is gold. The 20 year old is immature and unreliable. Ups and downs.

I’m with Folk.

I was unclear on what happened here. He was on IR, right? Then released from IR, cleared waivers and returning to the PS? Wonder why they did that instead of just keeping him on IR.

The timeline there is correct. I assume they feel he needs the practice time to develop and that it was worth the risk to expose to him to other teams.

He's kind of a unique case in that he's got enough potential to be worth bringing into practice, but with value so low it was never a real concern he would make it through waivers. He wasn't exactly released from IR, he was designated for return first, so I kind of looked at it as a similar transaction to what would have happened to Gilmore if Carolina didn't make the trade at the last minute.

The team has kept a kicker on the PS for part of the season, I think in part due to Folk's minor injury. Good to have depth.

Yeah, except he was designated to return (and practiced) one day before he was released. If they kept him on IR, he wouldn’t be able to practice. So basically, they took the slight risk of him being picked up elsewhere so that they can have him at practice without worrying about the three week time limit on return designations. Now they have him for 6+ weeks vs 3.

If they didnt activate him, he'd revert to the IR for the rest of the season... so maybe they could get him practice time?

Not clear on if they could have activated him/designated him to the practice squad directly from IR

No, all players that go to practice squads have to clear waivers first (unless unsigned of course)

Thanks guys, the activation before release seems to be what I missed. This makes sense.

I’m definitely intrigued by him so glad that this worked out.

Can anyone sign him off of PS or is there way to protect him. I know PK are hot and cold but kid showed a lot of great potential….

They can sign him off the PS if they put him on their active roster

And he can decline if he so chooses. Pats used to pay practice squad more than minimum to help encourage that but not sure they can these days.

The team can protect up to four of their practice squad players from being poached each week. If not protected, other teams can sign them to their active roster (they cannot sign them to their own practice squad).

Yeah they can still be paid more than minimum.
Practice squad players can be paid more than those minimum figures and their salaries do count against a team’s salary cap.

tell me more about this mormon stuff...

Search "mormon" in any of the major porn sites and you'll get an accurate picture of how they spend their time. At least, that's what a friend tells me.
