Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread: Pats destroy the Browns

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

I wouldn't call the Bourne signing "under-rated"... He signed a big contract, after all, and very early too...

Bourne didn't sign a "big" contract. $3yr/15M is not BIG for #2 WR. Not when the Franchise tag is over 20M. There are over 25 WRs making $10M/yr including Agholor. And there are 38 WRs ahead of Bourne. He's going to wind up being a bargain at this rate.

DFK, I'm surprised you disagreed with my previous post. I was commending you for your vast insight and knowledge in team building and cap management. You've convinced me, who in their right mind would sign Smith after the year he had last year. Totally irresponsible of BB. And your knowledge of offensive line play. BB and staff see these guys everyday in practice but you knew the best lineup without seeing a single practice. Thank God they read Patsfan or they never would have solved the OL issue. And cap management, it will be a sad day when JCJ is forced to leave because of BBs mismanagement. If only BB had consulted you. That's why it is imperative that you contact the Pat's to save us lowly Pat's fans from BB's ineptitude. Tell them you are DFK and they'll immediately send a limo for you. You're our only hope.

Agholor is butter fingers.

Could have signed a cheaper speedster for the same 1-2 catches a game. But they were desperate to respond in FA after TB12 won his 7th ring.

.

Who? Stop spewing your stupidity and give actual evidence instead of BS...

EDIT: @DropKickFlutie - How can you disagree with someone telling you to give an actual example of this "cheap speedster" you claim was available? Or are you disagreeing with the idea that you're an idiot and just spewing BS? Especially since more than a few people have called you out on your garbage in this threat to this point?

This is great, please keep defending a $12m/year guy catching 1-2 balls a game. By the way the dime Mac threw that Agholor gave up on doesn't technically count as a drop.
For the love of God will you please stop with your incessant redundant criticisms of everyone you don't like. We're on a 4 game win streak and all is good. You're too too much - nobody here wants to hear that right now. Are you a good poster or just a troll?

1. I know you're happy since you've been defending NKeal Harry as a 1st round pick consistently.
2. To be fair before we declare NKeal the next Shannon Sharpe, he basically took out Garrett from the side/back and Garrett didn't even see him. It was almost like a blindside special teams block.

.
1) I haven't been defending Harry "constantly". I've been pretty silent on Harry since the start of the season. Nice job lying there, chumly.
2) No one is declaring Harry the "Next Shannon Sharpe". You're also full of s**t in regards to how Harry took him out. Because you're description is considered a Blindside block period. Harry got him from the side. Which is still a LEGIT BLOCK though you want to act like it means nothing. This is what I mean about LEARNING about the game. If you actually UNDERSTOOD it, you'd know that there are actually very few players at WR or TE who could line up against Garrett (6'4-275) and pancake him. Which is what Harry did.

I love how when challenged to provide tape of "any back-up TE" who has handled Garrett this way, you blather on and can't actually back up your statement. Instead, you obfuscate with lies about the person calling you out on your BS.

So, please, keep on yammering like a complete fool. It just confirms for new comers that you're someone not to bother listening to.

If it comes down to we can't afford JC in the future because we have Wynn, Agholor, Jonnu, Godchaux tied up for 45M, then it absolutely becomes an issue.

.
Except it won't be an issue as the Patriots can turn around and give Wynn a Long term deal to cut down his cap hit. A Franchise tag on Jackson is going to be 18.56M The Pats are likely to get a long term deal done on Jackson in the the 4/$64-5/$90 range. They can make that cap hit fit in 2022 with ease while ensuring Jackson's AAV puts him in the Top 10 range of salary.

Again, if you had even a basic understanding of the salary cap, you'd know and understand this.

I was thoroughly disgusted with Ian Eagle's commentating on the situation.
I'll cut Eagle a little slack because the producer and director didn't do him any favors.

It was an almost impossible situation - you have a once in a career achievement and a possible (from what they knew at the time) career ending injury - and they kept cutting in-between the two situations haphazardly - elation/heartache. It was terrible directing choice that could have no commentary make any sense.

I agree with your approach though - extend the commercial break or cut to an extended "look in" on another game (or the studio for other game highlights) until you can come back to them stretchering him off and the crowd cheering for him and then maybe a replay of the Meyers achievement to "return to a positive note". Not the best approach, but better than what they did.

How do you figure they don't control their own destiny for HFA? They have 1 Conference loss. Every other team other than the Titans has at least 2. The Chargers, Raiders, Bengals, and Steelers all have 2. The Ravens and Bills each have 3.

The Browns game was HUGE as was the Chargers game when it comes to tie breakers. The Titans game and the Bills games are huge as well in the scheme of things but they Pats have an even chance in all 3 of those games. Both games against the Bills will determine who wins the division.

If the Pats win both Games against the Bills, the Pats take the division but end up tied with the Bills, the Pats still take the division because of head-to-head. And that is the case even if the Pats were to lose the Miami game.

If the Pats beat the Titans and they end up tied with the Titans, the Pats would be seeded ahead of them.

The Miami game only factors in to HFA if the Pats don't get business done. But that is them controlling their destiny.
Because we are two losses behind Tennessee. So even if we win out including the win over Tennessee all they have to do is win out and they have 3 losses. I'm not sure if you had Tennessee with 3 losses or not, but they are 8-2. NE would need to win out and Tennessee to drop a 2nd game.

And they play: Texans (2), Pat's, Jags, Steelers, 49ers, and the Fins. The 49ers and Steelers are about the only hope we have.

Also the Ravens only have 3 losses so if they run the table they would finish ahead of us as well. So the Miami loss caused us to lose control of HFA.

I agree they can win all 3 games against the Bill's and the Titans. And run the table. I think it's probably more likely we win 2 out of 3 but all 3 is possible. I mean they could run the table or should if they win those 3 games. But I think they finish 12-5. And win the tie breaker over the Bills and finish with the 2nd seed. I think Baltimore will drop a few more their schedule is brutal. Browns twice, Steelers twice, Cincy, GB and LA Rams. **** if they make the playoffs against that they did something.

In case anyone still had doubt that Hunter Henry made that one handed catch on the sideline, here is are 2 still shots from @Jlaff 's own video that show Henry's middle and ring fingers under the ball.

Doing so would be kind of dumb, but since you asked: Agholor at the end of next year.

Smith after 2023, with a 3.75m hit.

The Pats don't put phony years on guys they want, typically. And they wanted, and still want, I'd bet, these two.
Why would they still want guys who aren’t producing?

Why would they still want guys who aren’t producing?
They could send Agholor packing at the end of the year and save themselves 5M, but I think it's much more likely that they keep him as the outside speed guy. He's not producing Metcalf numbers, but he's helping this team in other ways as was pointed out. Drawing 2 DPIs is huge. As is forcing the defense to be honest and not stack the box when he' on the field for running plays.

And let's remember. BB kept Chad Johnson around for 6.5M at a time when that was considered a LOT of money for a WR and Johnson did less in a full season than Agholor has done to this point. And Johnson had a Veteran QB throwing to him.

Well, that game was as much fun to re-watch as to attend.

So many players contributed in so many ways that it's hard to single anyone out, but the player of the game has to be Kendrick Bourne. The touchdown pass was the kind that Brady rarely threw (there was a similar one to Tim Wright, if memory serves) but it was brilliantly executed: high and fast so that, even with two defenders on him, only the receiver could get it. But it assumes great hands, timing and leaping ability. KB made so many other great plays as well. It was obvious even from the clips from Jarrett Stidham's passing camp that he is a really dynamic athlete and on Sunday he put it all together.

On a day that was almost mistake-free it was the rare mistakes that stood out. Poor Josh Uche didn't just jump offside and get the edge of Bill's tongue, he also let a fumble go from underneath him. And J.C. Jackson missed what would have been his easiest interception of the season. I'm sure BB will let him know about that one!

One thing that they didn't show on TV was that, as Troy Hill was being treated, his teammates dropped to one knee and then the Pats took a knee too (and Jakobi mentioned after the game how concerned for the player he was, even in his celebration).

On the TV replay I noticed that Hill had a blow to the head earlier in the game and I can't help wondering if that had something to do with the later injury -- that really didn't look like much more than glancing contact with Jakobi's thigh.

Great game, great day out!

4 straight wins now playing the style and OLine I like. Keep it up. I'm vindicated. Sorry the team was 2-4 doing it the wrong way before. They'd be 7-3 if they didn't screw up the first 6 weeks.
If only they had you on the coaching staff. You should write BB a strongly worded letter, let him know what a piss poor job he did the first 6 weeks and bring you in to help them get that perfect season.

Not only that.

Mac led two TD drives of 90+ yards in slightly more than three quarters of play.

Hoyer played less than a quarter and led one TD drive of 90+ yards, so he was clearly more efficient.
I smell a QB controversy brewing
