Hi from Scotland

It’s a beautiful place.

My mother was born and raised in Edinburgh. We went there a few times when I was young to visit with my grandparents etc.. Incredibly beautiful.

Yip. We’re only 40min away by train but don’t go up very often.
We’re closer to Glasgow so it’s there we mainly go.
In saying that we were talking the other day about going for an overnight stay just before Christmas. There’s a tremendous atmosphere around the city during the festive season.

I spent a week mid December in Edinburgh a few years ago. I was so happy and drunk. There was a Santa run with hundreds of runners in Santa suits. There was the Christmas market which was mainly for children and German Sausage lovers. The hills, museums, and people are lovely, drunk or sober. I took a day trip to Loch Ness and Glasgow. Gorgeous country. Brilliant trip, did the train round trip from London.

MGB maybe you can help me with a life long question. Are Scotts a little Inherently crazy or did my mother just have a few loose wires?

She was an awesome mom but there were times in which my brother and I wondered what in the hell is she riled up about.

My favorite story about her is about the time I got accused by the school principal for being on drugs at school. I wasn't and have no idea why he thought that. My mother took me to get tested for drugs and about two weeks later the results came back negative. That was when I knew that my mother was better than any other. I got called to the front office and my mother was there. She hated confrontation but if she was forced into it watch out. She had the printed test results with her. When I arrived I was asked to wait outside the principal's door. I could hear everything.

Long story short she ripped him a new asswhole. The funny part was at the end she called him "love".

RIP Mom.

Your mum sounds like every other Scottish mother I know, including my own
Not to be messed with, especially when her kids are involved.
There’s definitely a strand of our DNA which sets us apart from, say, the English, Welsh or Irish. In a good way or bad I’ll let others judge.
Let’s just say I’m glad we don’t allow individuals to own guns in Scotland!

I stayed in Castle Stuart in Inverness when we were there. Ran into Sean Connery just walking about in the streets.

By the way, you have another Scot here. @Scotty

Cheers, Scotty. Where are you in Scotland?

North East , outside Aberdeen

Great with knives though, I understand.

Coatbridge for 30yrs now. The previous 27 in a small North Lanarkshire mining village, Shotts.
Still amazed at the amount of Scots I meet who love the NFL.
In my workplace alone we’ve a FF league with 13 players in it.
No other Pats fans though.

Watching the game will contact you later

@MGB ...Hi there , that was some game yesterday ?

I am from a small town outside Aberdeen. I was brought up in Peterhead which is famous for its prison !!! (Shotts has one as well ??) As you can imagine I was employed in the oil industry (as most are up here) for 44 years and now retired.
Have been following the NFL and a few teams (particularly the Pats) since it was shown on World of Sport and ****ie Davies going way back
Have been put off soccer for some time now (cheating , fouling , shirt pulling , falling over etc etc etc) but happy to see Scotland start to get a team together after a long period of rubbish.
I have sent you a PM , I assume you are familiar with the site so it should show at the top of your screen....the envelope logo.

Hi Martin, good to see another Scot on the forums.
Aye, the more the merrier!
That's the Atlanta game just finished and we're now 7 and 4. Good times to be a Pats fan. The downside to this Thursday night game is that it's another 10 days before the Titans game, which is going to be massive.
