Many? Not one person I know has any lingering side effects. My fiancée is a nurse, and the hospitalized people are the ones you’d expect to be hospitalized with something that a person with average health could easily fight off.

And lol at the unvaccinated being the problem. Tell that to 100% vaccinated cardinals.

3 quarters of a million people died with covid. That’s not the same thing as being killed from it and people have to stop pretending it is.
Excess deaths in the US in 2020 agree in magnitude, time and age distribution with the reported COVID deaths. Why should people stop "pretending" that facts are facts?

Guy I work with got COVID 10 months ago. Was in the hospital for 3 weeks.

At present his lungs are at 70% capacity and experiences numbness in his upper thighs. Before covid was completely healthy, in great shape and physically active.

Long haulers are absolutely a real thing.

It is, but it doesn’t always correlate to what we see as high deductive skills. I do think there’s a minimal level required.

I mean, Ryan Fitzpatrick went to Harvard and scored a 48 on his Wonderlic, but look at all the bonehead decisions he made. Eli Manning..same thing. He scored a 39, which is bordering on genius, but he’s known for his errant reads.

It might shock people to know Eli scored a 39 and Peyton scored a 28. The Wonderlic isn’t everything, but I know people in the 39 range, and it’s obvious. They’re often even too analytical, whereas 28 is closer to average. I have little doubt Eli would be naturally more adept at chess.

Reminds me of Moneyball when Billy Beane could never figure out how some of the dumbest guys had the best plate discipline and an instinct to know balls/strikes and read the pitcher, and a lot of the smartest guys couldn’t figure it out. It was all random.

There was an article a few years ago about Brady where he was working out in Costs Rica, and one about Manning called One Trick Pony. It was similar with both of them…while they both study a lot of film, it’s not as complex as some might think. Brady basically said if the defense shifts one way, he throws it to the other side. Manning basically ran the same variation of one play. Both of them went to new teams and simplified the offenses.

A form. Sure.

He did score a 35 on his Wonderlic.

I'm not saying AR is a moron.

I'm not saying hes the next Stephen Hawking.

What I don't think is just because someone is an NFL QB by default are assumed a come to a data-driven, scientific-based, reasonable opinion/assessment.

That's literally my exact point. You can be smart in one way and dumb in another, and it's funny to witness that.

My father died when his kidneys failed. So do I say that he died of Kidney failure or stage four esophageal cancer?

You dont know ****.

Think again. I doubt it changes his trade value directly, but I do think this incident took some offers off the table so reduced his trade value indirectly. I think he just made himself untouchable by several organizations. Even if they agree with his anti-vax hokum, they can't accept his outright lying about being vaccinated from a person they'd want to be a key team leader.

Mr. Rodgers deserves an award for his 2021 performance.

I'm interested to know if you and others would be supportive of a permanent thread to award an Annual Jay Cutler Douchebag of the Year Award. I'm working on some criteria that include:

1) Punchable Face
2) Talented but massive underachiever
3) Dumped by at least one woman clearly out-of-his-league
4) Got a head coach fired
5) Stunningly clueless pressers
6) Poor hygiene
7) At least one cap-busting contract
8) Other?

So when you know everyone in the world let us know. I know a ton of people who have major after effects, so of the after effects is...death. I mean it can kill you, that seems like a pretty bad lingering effect. What people dont get is unvaxxed people think they are not hurting anything. Here is why you are. When they have to go to the hospital because they get it way worse than vaxxed people. they are taking hospital beds away from people who have other issues going on. All because of some silly conspiracy BS, you are making it hard on doctors and hospitals. In other words, its selfish crap.

I always love when people say, oh but I dont know anyone who died so therfore its not a big deal. Humans are just **** nowdays.

Wouldn't be surprised. I took a quick look and saw one negative Rodgers comment.
Yeah I scrolled forever and only saw one negative comment. Nobody calling him out on his bs only "You're my hero Rodgers!"

Well you go ahead and lyao. If you think most of the people who have died had one foot in the grave already then the joke's on you. I lost full time coworkers as well as one who permanently has carrying oxygen with her. If your fiance has your attitude then she shouldn't be a nurse.
Co-worker 16 year old nephew perfect health, football player in high school. Died of covid 2 weeks ago. His dad was a conspiracy guy and would not let him get the vaccine. He ended up taken down all of his conspiracy BS off facebook after his son died. Hope he was happy with his decision.

Depends

do 99% of people with stage 4 esophageal cancer survive?

Joe Rogan's podcast may legitimately be a large contributing factor to multiple problems in American culture right now. A whole lot of people really do trust him more than any other source of information, and he doesn't even really claim to be a good source.

When they were younger, it took a bit of effort to get our kids to understand YouTube and TikTok nor anything written or said by the "press" should be taken as the complete truth.

Any response to the CDC study?
From the la times article?

based on 400 people with at least one lingering symptom? Why would that study mean anything to anybody. Nearly half of the people in the study that are referred to as having long covid reported fatigue, loss of smell, or some muscle pain. That isn’t significant to me.

I had covid a month ago. It wasn’t a good time, but was wholly unremarkable outside of losing my smell. So I guess I’m a long covid patient since I still can’t smell much. Feel free to go about your lives though. I won’t tell you how to live even though I faced the virus and now I’m a survivor.

I think it's pretty well-documented the virus impacts people differently. I also know people who have had it and it was very minor if nothing at all. Some not so much.

Even if he isn't a complete dummy (although I think that is debatable) he has no education (which provides discipline for intelligence) or training in data-driven scientific based inquiry and assessment. What has changed in recent years is the ability to accurately gauge self-expertise or "know what you know". Someone like my grandfather was a smart guy without much formal education, but he could figure out what he knew or could learn from books and for fields like medicine where he simply didn't have the training he relied on medical experts and MDs.

In contrast, there is a relatively new internet-based societal phenomena where people without an education and experience in data-driven scientific based inquiry and assessment decide that by Googling only websites and talking heads that already agree with their preconceptions they can do "their own research" that has more validity than well educated and trained experts that spend their lives in the field. Rodgers is a perfect example, he clearly has no ability to gauge "what he knows" and is convinced by listening to people that already agree with his opinions (like Rogen) and googling anti-vax and anti-mask conspiracy websites he knows more than the experts.
