N'Keal Harry appreciation thread

He needs to channel his inner Billstrodamus and bench them the play BEFORE.
Well since belichicks teams have fumbled far less over his career than anyone else, it’s actually sort of like that. The punishment for poor ball security clearly creates extra incentive to not cough it up, thereby actually preventing fumbles before they happen.

Actually, since the Bourne benching coincided with a W, I say we just bench him for the rest of the season. I'm knee deep in reactionary analysis rn.

In all seriousness, I am always in favor of benching off a fumble. We've lost many games this season because of turnovers.

This thread is on page 3 of love for Harry. Never thought I would see that.

It’s not a decision it’s a culture and philosophy. The benefits are indisputable.

After the trade request, ANOTHER injury, being at best the 6th receiving option, and not knowing where to line up/when to go in motion, he isn't in the doghouse and is actually getting some targets. I'd say that's pretty amazing.

I’ve always had a soft spot for N’Keal and will root for him so long as he’s here.

I’m not optimistic about him developing into a well-rounded WR, but he has his niche currently. As others have said, it’s bizarre that he isn’t getting deep-shots/red-area targets.

Cons:
Lacks great speed and burst
Average (at best) hands
Likes to try and tackle the ground with his body
Injury prone - see above ^^^^^^
Is a bust, but somehow demanded a trade anyway

Pros:
He is a big dude
he's been here a couple years so know the playbook ?
Good blocker
Ummmmm... he's made a few, like 3 or 4 tough catches over his career
If you think of him as a bust... everything good that he does now is gravy?
under contract for another year

Seriously though. he is really big and he's the WR4 on the team and provides depth. With such a run heavy team and lots of good options in the passing game, there really aren't a lot of opportunities for him. Even Bourne who's been really good, only gets a few touches per game. So i'm fine with him, maybe he'll get a bit better.

With that logic, the next time Mac throws an INT, I expect Hoyer to trot onto the field and spell Mac.
C'mon now...

There is a significant difference between a RB and WR carrying and protecting a football properly and throwing a pick for whatever reason.

...and if Mac starts throwing a **** load of picks he'll be on the bench too.

Average (at best) hands? I think he has great hands. Did you see two of his last three catches? The throw from Hoyer was terrible and he plucked it out of the air reaching down over the guy. The crossing route pass from Mac was a little behind and the defender almost blocked it but Harry muscled the defender and snatched the ball.

Not quick? I agree. Doesn't seem to get it? I agree. Lacks separation? I agree. Average at best hands? Nope.

RB’s and WR’s are going to fumble. It’s inevitable with how much they get hit. If you want to bench them for a few plays or a drive, fine. But for the rest of the game or get deactivated over it is ridiculous. Especially if they are important to the team and clawing their way to wins which they are currently doing.

Whenever Harry makes a catch I have the oddest feeling. I'd call it "mildly shocked" followed by, "Is he really supposed to do that?" Standing still the guy looks like a real specimen, then the play starts.

Some players fumble more than others and more frequently.

The infrequent fumblers play. The habitual fumblers don't.

Some need to be taught the hard way.

My post was mostly satire, I agree he has good hands.
