Second straight game vs team coming off a bye.

I don't see another 45-0 beatdown but that run defense is putrid. Would love to see the Pats take advantage.

OTOH Herbert isn't an ideal matchup for our banged up secondary. I hope they're ready

We shut Herbert down last year and it's not like he wasn't good as a rookie, so there's a chance we limit him again. Might be wishful thinking though (or just not enough to win the game), as the 2021 Chargers are clearly not the 2020 Chargers.

We've stayed competitive against better teams, so don't write this game off as an automatic loss.

Don't know why you created this thread you know the admin won't let you!

Would have rather this game been in NE rather than travelling to the west coast to play a team coming off their bye week. Oh well.

Chargers are giving up 5.4 yards per carry on the ground.
Compare that to other teams with notable bad run defenses - the 2002 Pats (4.7), the 2020 Pats (4.5), 2016 49ers (4.8), 2013 Bears (5.3)

Gonna hafts watch this game probably acting like a buffoon the whole time while passing out candy. The kids are gonna be like wtf is wrong with this guy.

There is a way to beat the Chargers. Run the ball on them their run defense stinks. That will also limit Herbert's possessions

I hope Hunter Henry can give us some nice intel on the Chargers. I think we can win this one.

I hope we win.

A win here and we are back in the playoff race. A loss here and we are still probably out of it imo.
I haven't really cared about the close losses as I've looked at this as pretty much a developmental season. But if we grab a win here and contine make some quick progress, I'll probably start to get more upset about not coming away with any Ws out of MIA, TB, DAL.

The Miami one hurt. We could have won that.

The other two at least showed us competing with top teams. However, a 4-4 start and two in a row could be the start of a run..

Bill better have all the running backs active this Sunday. I really don't want to see 2 yards and a pile of dust when a gassed Bolden is the teams only option.

Why the feck are the Pats playing ANOTHER team coming off a BYE? Schedule is rough for this team.

The trick is to use the run to set up the pass. Chargers are happy sitting back in pass defense letting you run and trying to have 13 play drives.
You can’t run on every first and second down because they are weak against the run.

Run the ball. On Defense protect against the big play.

Besides 1 busted play vs Kamara we held him in check so I think we can limit Ekler.

Winnable game..very winnable game. Just can't shoot ourselves in the foot.

Pretty important game if we have playoff aspirations. Conference game, meanwhile the Bills have the lowly Phins.

Which means we are going to come out 5 wide and throw :-D

Last years game was crazy. We shut them out with Cam throwing for 69yds on 19 attempts. Then Stid threw for 61 on 3 attempts.
We had Gunner, Meyers, Byrd & Harry as our WR's, and Izzo at TE. We've improved a lot more than Chargers have.
Except our ailing D - especially secondary. Jones gone, DMac unlikely. So, Bryant and Williams are going to play a lot.

If Smith is out, I hope they activate Asiasi. And to have all 4 RB's active. The OL has found some chemistry, and Wynn deserves another couple games to see if he can get back in shape. I feel somewhat optimistic about this game if we stay healthy and balanced on O.
