Gasper: I think Bill is realizing his system doesn't work without high level QB play

Not only that, but I don't think Kraft would want to touch a player accused of sexual assault and/or rape right now. Between his past situation and Antonio Brown, I don't think he really wants the PR hit.
This. They shipped AB out of town for civil lawsuit - from one woman that was pending. Watson is in deep **** - with possible criminal proceedings and several civil lawsuits.

Even if you think his legal troubles will be solved by high price lawyers - this seems like a bad character to have leading your team. BB theory is that you need a smart guy, who is accurate with his throws and is a tough guy and a good leader. Well that's what Mac Jones is. Dollars to doughnuts Bill is going to let it play out.

It wouldn't surprise me if Jacoby Meyers had the bigger arm - and he runs what a 4.6? But I don't think Meyers is the next QB for Bill. For Bill its not all about having a cannon for an arm and crazy fast wheels.

He thinks Mac Jones is the right kind of QB for the Patriots. We could have traded up for Fields without giving up the farm. This is because Bill likes Mac. I think this whole line of reasoning is just shade coming from a guy who for whatever reason doesn't like Mac.

If Bill traded up for fields he should be fired.

Arizona is a good example that this is possible. They gave up on a top 10 QB pick after ONE year which is pretty unheard of. I thought they were crazy, but it's paying off. I'm not that high on Jones long term as there's really nothing that "wow's" you about him. His arm is very mediocre. And as many analysts have said, there's not much of a ceiling with him. However, he looks to be in control of the offense, makes protection calls, doesn't do anything stupid and looks fairly poised out there.
This is exactly what mediots said about a young Brady, not much arm strength, not an exciting player to watch, doesn't do anything stupid, takes care of the ball, good clock management etc...and look how that turned out. Brady did not have a cannon of an arm in his first few years, to be honest he doesn't have one of the strongest for his entire career and yet he had more than enough other attributes to make up for that. Who is to say that Mac can't develop that area and others to become a very good QB. ? Anyone who has said his ceiling is low after 5 games is just either trolling, doesn't know that game very well or are being just unfair as they are comparing him to Brady

Gaspar has had a hair across his arse ever since the Pats drafted Mac Jones and discussion started that Jones may start over Newton. I never felt Gaspar was this massive Newton guy in 2020, but for whatever reason he became the cam Newton fan club president in 2021. Gaspar as obviously picked the "Mac Jones is just a guy" Hill to die on...

I remember Brady's rookie season he was on WEEI and he said they wanted him to work on his arm strength and he did that by working on his legs, they can do the same with Mac if they feel that way. Stupid take by Gaspar, even dumber than his Randy Moss takes back when they got him.

Gasper is holding onto his hot take that Mac Jones will be a JAG

It's such a ridiculous take. Gasper seems hell bent on pushing the narrative of a new age running QB. So he hates Mac not for anything to do with Mac but just his general sense of pushing for the running QB. And I'm a Lamar fan, I think it's silly people diss a guy who already won a mvp and still has room to grow. But Gasper dying on this hill, it just doesn't make sense strategically for an organization. You want your QB to stay healthy and play 15+ years which is a pocket passer who gets it out quick and rarely runs or takes hits.

Gasper has no f*cking Pats sources. They hype him as an insider on Felger and Mazz because it is to their benefit to pretend that one of their guests has sources in the organization. He goes negative most of the time because that is what the talk radio guys want. He also has this (unjustified) “smartest guy in the room” attitude. Not a fan.

I will buy the team to prevent this. Mac stays! (How? I'll borrow the money and make payments.)

Why do the natives pay attention to an idiot as such? Starve the attention seeking ****wit of said attention and they go away.

At this point, it’s more probable than he will be a JAG than a hall of famer like half the board think he will be.

He is, for now, the best of the rookie QB. Will it be the case in 3 years? I don’t know. I think that’s the time we have to wait before pinning him in either category. Don’t forget that he was labeled as the most NFL ready rookie QB in the draft and it shows. I mean Allen took 3 years to develop. I remember clearly that everyone on this board was laughing at the Bills and categorized Allen as a bust at the midway point of his rookie season. If not before.

He has already won a championship with Alabama - he will never be a JAG. Time will tell how good an NFL QB he will be. But the signs are looking pretty good. The only real knock on him is his arm strength. And that is something that might be better then we realized or can be improved..

Yeah, I guess that Kosar and Bledsoe kind of gave him the hint, but that still leaves open the question, "Is there any system that works without high level QB play?" I'll accept Dilfer as the exception that proves the rule.

In college, sure. In the NFL winning a national championship in college has no bearing on if he is gonna be a JAG or not.

If I remember correctly, Wiggy maintains similar strong feelings about who the Pats QB should have been this season.
Hmmmmm....
Wonder what they both see?

It all makes sense now, Gaspar and Newton share a commonality......
They both love to accessorize

But Gasper dying on this hill, it just doesn't make sense
Eerie parallels to a 2001 draft day hot take made by a former Boston mediot also grasping for relevancy.

After 500 votes, the Ron Borges draft column from 2001 is the leader in the clubhouse for worst Boston sports column in recent memory. Borges' mocking the Patriots drafting of Richard Seymour and Matt Light

Watson will elevate the entire offense.
The Longest Yard is not an NFL film. Similar to "you can't make the club from the tub" if you get a QB to "elevate" an offense he's not allowed on the field with...how many feet do they actually elevate?

Breaking news: Water is wet and Gasper spews BS.

Sportstalk radio's role is not to inform, but to create controversy and allow halfwits to call in with their views of how the world works, somehow that makes fans want to listen to them. No where is that more obvious than with Maz & Felger who are masters at this; little content, lots of conjecture, lots of hysteria and half truths then they add a whole lot of second guessing.

If I am out and about when these dudes are on the radio, I immediately change the channel.. they are like fingernails on a chalk board.
