Moss as Redzone CB? your thoughts

I'd rather have a defensive back, because if I'm an opposing QB who sees Randy Moss in the end zone, I'm calling a play to run right at him: it's an 11-on-10 game with Moss on D.

No one's going to throw a jump ball vs. Randy Moss.

It's a bad idea because covering a receiver is very different from being a receiver, and also would you trust Moss to tackle a receiver on a quickout? The only possibility is to throw him in at free safety, but why would you do that, he's never shown the ability to read the QB and jump an interception. I think he's too lanky to have the necessary agility and cutting ability to blanket a receiver.

Being as tall as he is a shorter WR can make a quicker cut and get open. A jump ball forget about it, but a quick slant we may need to put Welker in to cover

I love watching Randy play for us but the man pushes off all the time and that will get flagged if he's lined up on D.

Using a player like Moss on D is idiotic. Imagine if the guy got injured? Besides, he's not quick enough to be a cover corner.

As everyone knows, Moss has great downfield speed (basically what the 40 measures)..but you are right, in order to be a great redzone DB you'd need to have great cutting and reactionary speed, and I don't think his frame allows him to do that. There's a reason why there aren't many tall corners.

Huh? If you were in a Hail Mary situation and you saw Randy Moss you would call a running play?

If having Randy in the game forces you to abandon the deep pass, then he is more than carrying his weight.

Yeah. Despite both being in the end zone, the two situations are at almost opposite ends of the spectrum.

Little unfolds more quickly than a red zone play. Little unfolds more slowly than a Hail Mary.
