Wickersham book discussion

Yea that excerpt seemed like a stretch.

I can certainly envision BB blowing off Mrs Rat and Mr Rat muttering under his breath and Woody or someone telling him to calm down when Bill is 100 ft away.

And Kraft, unprompted, declared to a bunch of people that Bill is the biggest ******* he ever met, and this never made waves? Like nobody had their phone out, like they do everytime Kraft makes any kind of appearance. Nobody there thought this might be something sports media would want to hear.

Complete fantasist stuff

Are you kidding me with this non-sense!? It was the Super Bowl. Butler had played over 95% of the defensive snaps all season. The guys we had out there were atrocious. The Eagles never punted. And you want to talk about discipline for a player who was sick and performing poorly in practice? Patricia is a complete moron. We all know that. But the fact that Bill sided with him and torpedoed our SB is unforgivable. No wonder Brady said he was done after that game.
Again, it’s a team, there is discipline and commitment required.
A player who says he didn’t learn the game plan and didn’t work in practice is saying fu to his teammates.
I mean it gives you something to cry about, but in the real world you just don’t get it

The book claims that Brady wanted to say goodbye to Belichick in person before officially leaving the Patriots as a free agent in 2020, and that the veteran head coach "said he wasn't available and insisted the two New England Patriots legends talk on the phone."

Belichick was asked about this excerpt from the book during his press conference Wednesday afternoon, and he was quick to refute it.

"No, that's not true," Belichick said. "And I've heard a few things about this book, and it sounds like it's a lot of second, third and fourth-hand comments. But I'm not going to get into that. I'm going to focus on this game and try to prepare for this game."

Belichick denies this Tom Brady report from new book on Patriots

What's your point?

Are you trying to support Spygate and say the league is right for punishing the Pats the way they did?
My point was would you expect the one of the biggest documented cheating coaches to bash another coach caught up in a "cheating" scandal?

So many of us were right in that Butler had an argument that go him benched. My guess was he offended lil' Stevie who told Daddy. But it was Fatt Matt all along! I said after the Super Bowl and I'll say it again, Matt is a POS with his ridiculous explanation to reporters on why Butler didn't play. He said it was due to "not enough packages" for him. Worst excuse ever and totally unprofessional. Him being hired back was a massive mistake as the defense looks like he has influence again.

BB and Goodell being friends doesn't shock me just like there's rarely been any real rivalries in the NFL for a very long time. Bob and Goddell are also friends. This is upsetting.

I'd love to see Team Bill's reaction if Bill departed and signed with the team that ripped out the Pats hearts twice in the Super Bowl (Giants) and derailed their perfect season. Tom would look like a choir boy compared to Bill.

How does the Bill and Mangini fist fight story stay this quiet for so long?

We already knew Brady strongly considered wanting out after 2017, but not during his 10 year drought? You'd think he would've approached Bob and Bill by year 5 at most and say things need to change.

We also know it's rumored the Pats organization was split on cutting AB. More to this story will come out soon. I stand by it was a panic PR move by hand job Bob to divert his own sh*t he was dealing with.

Bill better start winning or things will get worse for him. 2020 was the appetizer and we're on to the main course now. He can start by stop benching his f***ing RB's for missing ONE block! He had Harris, Michel and Stevenson. But by week 3, they're all gone. Nobody wants to see Brandon Bolden lining up next to Mac Jones. This is the sh*t I'm getting tired of.

Actually the Browns were about average for most of Bills tenure there, after taking over a team that was 3-13. They improved every season and went 11-5 in '94. They were considered a Superbowl favorite ahead of the '95 season, but that season was doomed from the beginning because Art Modell announced he was moving the team to Baltimore in the middle of it. There was a great episode of "A Football Life" that explains everything that went on that season and how it was set up to fail.

Their first tenure at least had some highs. This current Browns organization from 99 up until a year or two ago has been an all out disaster.

So it was patricia who
Now I'm angry again about the benching.

IF true - the MB problem was not on MB. It was a coaching failure. That's an unacceptable reason to throw away a SB.

If this is indeed the reason - someone's head should have rolled. BB's own or his staff. Sorry.
Lol, people forget that Butler was absolutely horrid that year and got burnt constantly; we weren’t winning that game regardless.

WickerSHAM.....

Not buying his book for damn sure...

I've been mildly critical of Belichick from 2017- 2019, and then I went to moderately critical after Brady left. The moment he brought back Patricia is when I became highly critical and into the category of not caring if Belichick stays anymore because his negatives probably outweight his positives. If this is a real reset of the team, why the **** are you hiring back these same guys to tell you you're right about everything? And what happened to "continuous improvement" when Brian Flores just proved to be twice the defenensive coach as Patricia. Patricia is a guy you want consulting with you about best practices?

I think Bill has insulated himself with "yes" men and family members. That's my overarching criticism of him now, which is what I think has led to this sad state of team affairs. He no longer wants to be challenged by anyone or accountable for anything. The owner is a pushover, the fans revere him no matter what he does, and the coaching staff is a bunch of lifelong Bill Belichick kool aid chuggers who are only able to think within the box of their existing philosophy. I really wanted Josh gone, Patricia gone, Little Steven gone, and for them to bring in some successfull, younger coaches from other organizations to challenge Bill and force him to adapt.

I know that DKF gets obssessed on certain topics, but I think there's a lot of truth to what he's saying too. It isn't that Josh/the offense, and the coordinators are these horrendous "root of all evil" guys, but he's absolutely right that their time is up and it's time to be replaced. Brady isn't here. The team needs to adapt a new identitiy and strategy because this won't work.

I can't believe Bill even somewhat answered questions about the book today.

There's a correlation to when he brought on Floyd Reese, an outsider, and the drafts brought a few pro Bowl caliber players. After he left, only Jamie Collins, a punter and a returner in 2020 who made "All Pro" after Tom left. That is awful. However, Thuney should've made a pro bowl.

Flores leaving was a shame as players liked him the day he took over while throwing low key shade at Patricia.

Bill's son's really need to leave and make a name for themselves elsewhere like others have. Players won't respect you or take you seriously when Daddy's your bodyguard.

One or two defensive stops on third down. That's all that was needed to flip the outcome. Butler would have made those plays without a doubt.

Instead Bill punished him. Football decision my ass.

These stories are popping up conveniently now, with Tom coming back. Taking a page from the WWE.
Probably timed by whoever the marketing director is for the publisher. Honestly… they deserve a raise.

At least some of it must have hit close to home.

The New England Patriots 30 for 30 should be aired in theatres, this is how big it will be
