Says Brady "looked at his options and ..... we weren’t as good an option as Tampa". Yeah Bill, since your 1 yr $23m offer sucked.

About Brady's departure, he says "It wasn’t a question of not wanting him. That’s for sure." Like wth!! Brady was practically kicked out. Why can't BB man up and say that they assessed he'll deteriorate and he didn't.

Says he's "not at all surprised by the success Brady's had". Well Bill then why the hell did you kick him out!??

I guess we'll have Q&A all week as Brady's the opposing QB. Can't avoid all the questions.

BB is a bigger Team Bill cultist than these forum members. That’s quite a revisionist take. When you’re winning, anything you say is cool and stonewalling is cool too. When you’re losing, this stuff doesn’t cut it.

I know I’m in the minority here, but I’m ok with how things went. Brady would NOT be happy here with the lack of weapons and waiting for a long rebuild. He made the best decision for himself and is much happier where he is. Even if the pats offered him $50M a year, would that really fix things for him or for us? If anything, it would slow the rebuild because we wouldn’t even be able to afford the lackluster “weapons“ we ended up getting. We’d see him fuming on the sidelines for a couple more years, instead of enjoying this late career resurgence from the GOAT as a pure fan of the sport.

Imagine how much better the offense would be with Gronk and AB.

Combined they cost less then Jonnu and Henry.

Brady attracts FAs.

It definitely worked better for Brady to leave. If Mac is the QB of the future then it worked ok for the Pats.

Had Bill changed his philosophy with Brady then it's most likely that both Bill and Brady retire together being the GOAT combo.

The conversations about how brilliant Bill was to use Brady as a coach and recruiter would have been great.

It's sad that Bill didn't see it that way. It would have been the perfect ending to the run Brady and Bill had in NE.

Sorry but I don’t see the logic. The implication is that having Brady here would give us zero chance at a playoff or Championship run. That sounds wrong to me.

And we didn’t need to give Brady $50m per year, probably $50m for 2 years rather. Which was cheap for Brady’s skills/ability.

And Brady could have played 3 or 4 more years for us. I am sure he’ll be playing next year.

I just don’t see the logic.

There's not a doubt in my mind they were winning it all this year if he stayed. We know the Bucs wouldn't be in the way.

I think Bill is squirming under the spotlight this week, and he should. So far the decision hasn't worked out well for us.

Even if Mac is the guy - he hits the end of his rookie contract and then asks for $50M/year for his next one. Maybe then that will shine a spotlight on how Brady was so valuable to the team and in many ways off the field.

50m is a good deal

The market rate for a young star QB 4 years from now might singularly cause Belichick to retire.

I have seen WAY less weapons than this even in superbowl years. Not sure weapons would be the problem. In fact I had never seen the Pats go out and bring in this many names on offense like they did this offseason.

As much as I'd like to believe that Brady loved it here so much that he would give up better opportunities to stay here, i just don't think thats the case. Brady wants to win, period. The fact is that the Bucs franchise is much better equipped to help him do that at this point in time. Thats why the Pats "weren't as good an option as Tampa".

Brady only took that into account because he actually entered free agency. This was the first time in his career he ever did so…because the team allowed him too. If cutthroat, bottom line winning were all he cared about, he would gone into free agency every few years.

I can post this 100 times, but on the day Tom Brady signed with Tampa Bay, there was a prop bet where you could bet on which team finished with more wins in 2020. The Patriots were slightly favored over the Bucs, and again, that’s after the Bucs added Brady and the Patriots lost Brady. Yes, the Patriots were still considered the better overall team. So this idea that he left only for winning is complete revisionism. The vast majority of people thought the Bucs would be thrilled just to make the postseason for the first time since 2007, and almost no one picked them to win it all, other than sharp bettors who saw long odds and bet on Brady’s intangibles over computer modeling.

Anyway, here’s the prop bet.

I think that it evolved in sequences.

I think Tom expressed a desire to have a voice in personnel here. He was told to f-off.

That and amongst other things led him to tell Kraft he was outta here.

Before and during those discussions with Bill and Bob, Tom did his homework on QB-needy teams. Tampa was obviously one of those teams.

In the conversations with TB, he expressed an interest in wanting some say in who would play on the team. BA and Licht obliged.

So when BB says, "we weren't as good of an option as Tampa" I think BB speaks to not just personnel, but say in personnel, freedoms he desired. I'm sure money had a little to do with it but I don't think for a second Tom left just because of the money.

I think he wanted more control of the offense as well. McD is a bit of a maroon.

Brady's biggest mistake was not taking control sooner as he didn't realize his worth. At 40+ years old he now wants a voice? Lol. Also, I'm not down with his passive aggressive behavior where he has outside voices giving us cryptic messages, disapproval or his Daddy speaking for him. He could've gone full LeBron after his 3rd title and during the 10 year drought to take control if he didn't like what was going on, but he's not that type of guy. He bottles it up and airs his dirty laundry through his people.

I think so as well. There were reports in 2018 and 2019 Bill, Josh and Tom became philosophically further disconnected on the offensive game planning and play calling. I don't know who wanted what but I'm guessing Tom wanted to pass more and Bill and Josh did not. Just a guess.

You are hanging out with DropKick too much.

LOL. I don't hate McD like that guy. Who could? But I would rather having Brady running our O than him any day.

...you freaking homers were smug for 18 years that Brady was so much more generous and willing to take one for the team and had the smaller ego until he left. And now you crap on him for not having a larger ego earlier, meaning it’s HIS fault the team fell apart, because you think that makes Bill look better or something? Wow.

Hell the Boston media made about 10 stories that the Pats were better off with Cam than Brady. lol Bucs were a team that never won much, and all I heard was how Brady could not play in that system, the oline sucked the coaching sucked, now all of the sudden, the poor patriots and brady went to a super team.

His people? Brady's dad is a grown up, he does not have to ask permission to speak. I have heard a lot of people speaking for Bill lately, is he the same way or is that different?
