Belichick still greatest of all time coach?

To me there really isn’t a wrong answer to who the greatest coach is. I think Landry, brown, Lombardi, and BB are all good answers. I’d personally say BB but I wouldn’t argue against the others

It hasn't happened since 2018, it's been 3 years now. Pats used to peak in Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb. Now they fade over the season. I don't know if it's because Ernie is gone, or Chad O'Shea left, or Brady+Gronk, but basically with our not-smart oc this offense just gets worse and worse over time, not better as the season goes, and it's been a pattern now for 3 years, these are the new Patriots who fade not peak.

.
It’s week 3…

Belichick still greatest of all time coach?

Absolutely.
The question says coach, not head coach. He has a better resume and 8 rings as a coach of football in the NFL. This question is freakin' absurd, nobody will ever do what he has done and it has been glorious to watch.

So does that Make McDaniels one of the all time great coaches too?

Because Belichick has six rings, not one. Belichick is the best tactician to ever coach the game while Dilfer was an average QB in his best years and Switzer was a yahoo who inherited a Ferrari.

I told you what makes Belichick better than every other coach beyond the rings. He does his job better than anyone else. He has all the angles covered. He is usually smarter than the guy on the opposite side of the field and forces the other team to play in a way that doesn't play to their strengths. He is always trying to find things outside the box to make the team just that much better. You dismiss all this as just doing his job.
But again - what makes Belichick #1? How do we know for sure? You don't think Lombardi, Walsh, Landry, Brown, Halas and the rest of them were also good at all these things?
I'm not saying Bill isn't GOAT but it's a tough question to answer. I think the best I can say for sure is that BB is an all-time great, I'd like to think he's GOAT because he is my team's coach, but objectively there are arguments for and against to be made that he is #1, like with any of those other great coaches in history. Unless we're just talking wins and rings, then Belichick is clearly #1...but then that creates more questions which I already went into.

I don't know if thinking outside the box is always a positive thing for a coach... I mean looking at a league rule and memo and trying to wordsmith it like a lawyer knowing your peers wouldn't dare do the same thing - maybe you could get away with say, videotaping signals on another team's sidelines... that is thinking outside the box. But that causes other problems as I'm sure we all know.

How many times do I have to say it? He is the greatest tactician in NFL history.

tactician? Do you know what makes a coach good? When they design a scheme or they design a gameplan, the players execute well. If the players dont, then the coach is an idiot. See how that works?

This is something that someone writes when they have no substance, so they just go into hyperbole and avoid specifics. I’ve never heard a damn thing you've said about his specific team building strategy, economic approach to player value, specific coaching schemes (real ones, not your fake, superficial takes), or really anything. In addition, you’ve shown you don’t know squat about NFL history, so it's hilarious that you try to brush off at least 50 years (half) of league history so you can create Felger levels of buzzword based opinion.

I do not know if he is the best ever or one of the best ever but 9 Super Bowl appareances with 6 Throphies means that he is real good...

I gave multiple examples in this thread of how Belichick coached up players and hid weakness by creatively using JAGs or making players two way players to fix deficits on the team (making Troy Brown a CB or Bruschi a TE). Sb1 called all tactical things. So I am just using his words.

But game planning is a huge part of coaching. For two decades, Belichick and his staff designed game plans to take away the opponents' best weapon and made them try to beat them other ways.

And are you saying Belichick didn't get his players to execute his game plans? Are you saying the head coach is irrelevant and it is all the players?

I am sorry, for twenty years it wasn't Brady carrying the team and Belichick just riding his coat tails.

So Walsh was chop liver in that department?

Where did I say that? Because I said Belichick was the greatest tactician it means I think Walsh sucked? Stop it.
