PostGame Thread Official Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Jets

Immediate Postgame Reactions
Uche with 2 sacks 1 hit & 3 hurries. He’s currently first in the NFL in pass rush productivity (total pressure by pass rushing snaps). Judon is currently third.

Judon got held a lot yesterday, with only one call.

Uche actually played 48% of the snaps. Judon was at 68%.

Some more nuggets on snap counts here:

— Josh Uche hardly saw the field in the first two quarters but saw his role increase after halftime. He played a total of 35 defensive snaps, up from 15 in Week 1, and sacked Wilson twice on New York’s final drive.

Uche was viewed as a candidate to start with Van Noy sidelined, but the Patriots chose to deploy him primarily in passing situations. He rushed the passer on 19 of his snaps, dropped into coverage on 10 and defended the run on just six, per Pro Football Focus. The same was true for Chase Winovich, who had 15 pass-rush snaps, three coverage snaps and two run defense snaps.

When the Patriots wanted an edge-setter off the bench in the first half, they went with elevated practice squadder Tashawn Bower (15 snaps).

— Ace gunner Justin Bethel made a late-game cameo at cornerback (eight snaps). He’d played just six defensive snaps over his first 26 games with the Patriots.

So the over/under on Uche for sacks this year is now at 25.

Mac has 0 interceptions.

I agree with the post.

Mac is doing a great job. Mistake free football is the first goal. Save for a couple of rookie mistakes he's doing it and has shown he can handle the pressure which is, imo, remarkable.

If I'm going to compare him to all QBs I'd say he's performing at around the league average. That's unbelievable. So yes, you're right, he's doing great. The Pats can win with this kid. He's going to improve.

Add in that the Pats have a lot of new players still trying to put it all together on the field, which will happen, and I'm looking at a fun season.
Agreed. First, don't lose the game. They won by 19 in a game they didn't play well, with a very average statistical game from the QB. There shouldn't be a lot of negativity at this point. They will take the training wheels off eventually, but they aren't rushing.

I think we should all be prepared for the inevitable board melt down when Brady comes in here slinging it all over the place, and Mac is going 25-38 with 235 yards and maybe a TD.

To take the reigns off the o-line has to do a better job of giving MJ more time.
One thing about the Pats that I had admired was that they built a wall for Tom Brady during his height of success. He was a pocket passer and the organization knew they had to protect him and they did. BTW, just the opposite of what the Falcons did with Ryan.

They are going to have to build a wall for Jones if they want him to be successful. He is great at moving around in the pocket, but he is not a running QB. I hope the organization gives Mac the protection he needs!

Inevitable is underselling it since it's already happened in both GameDay threads so far as a predictive post.

You clearly have no clue what you wrote because you said " on track for a wild card at best". That means you don't see the Pats doing any better than 2nd in the AFCE and 5th (at best) in the AFC. Which is exactly how I took it and responded to you, in kind. But please, if you think that means something else, please explain.
I wrote "on track for a wild card at best" which you translated to "ONLY the Wild Card is what is in reach" which is a typical Internet asshat move, take something someone else says and exaggerate it as far as you can, then treat it as if it is what I said when it's not.

I stand by my statements that your synopsis is essentially garbage and ignores how Belichick teams have done in 17 of the previous years.
You do know that what has happened over the last 17 years happened with different players on our team, different players on the other teams, different coaches on those teams, different schedules, and so on, right?

You do realize all it takes is BUF to win the conference for my prediction to be true, right?

And no. Your "synopsis" doesn't support your claims that you've watched every game since Marion Butts was the RB.
It supports the idea that I know each year is its own thing and past excellence doesn't guarantee future excellence, but you go ahead and believe whatever you want to believe.

If you want to believe in past performance predicts future performance, consider that BUF won the conference last season.

So, when you are sober tomorrow, you can post your apology for being the D-bag and getting your panties in a wad because someone had the audacity to call you out on your ridiculous post.
I'll wait for your hangover to clear, I haven't touched a drop in years.

I won't wait for your apology, you've already shown you're disingenuous, but I will wait for you to look that word up.

More stupid ****. Like clockwork.

Winning implies plural. it's one win. I know it picky chit on my part, as I am firmly on Team Mac. Just chill. He's taking the coaching, they have the training wheels on. We all look forward to the time when he slings it. Oh they winning on short passes. No, numbnuts, they won one on him not turning it over.

Rex Ryan on Mac Jones (at 7:21)

"If I'm coaching against him, I'm beating his tail off. THis guy doesn' have the arm talent of Brady."

people watching the 2001 season and even a few yrs after that will remember how Brady was termed game manager for a very long time by the same media which cant stop singing his praises now. Not saying mac is the same but he is two games in. He really is being held to a certain discpline and i assume they will open up as things get better. Lets not forget , its not just the QB but the TE's and WRs are all new to the system.
They really need to run much better they do now especially in the red zone. if you cant run the ball in the redzone the % will always be down- just because you have two TEs wont mean better results because no one will respect the run.

Exact same thing they said about brady in yr one. I even remember they saying he had small hands and had him measure it in one of the interviews. Media turns like the season.

..exactly who are you addressing with your statement?…sounds like rhetoric…

This stat is kinda over my head. What does it mean ? He was fast ?
It's basically the top speed for the fastest ball carrier for the Pats during the game (Berrios was 21.03mph for the Jets). For completed games for the season so far, this is the slowest top speed of all the teams/games. To me it means ball carriers weren't allowed to come close to fully accelerating - didn't have it in open space. So many reasons for this, but it's just really f'ing sad.

The good news is that Mac is currently on pace to match Cam's TD pass production from last year.
