Mac or Zach?

I'm not contradicting your assessment, but every player has his own style and characteristics.
you should be contradicting his assessment because its bullspit...

OK That's it.

I think it's safe to say he should not be expecting a Christmas card from you this year.

Wilson is the much more talented QB but plays for the worse org by a country mile. So hard to answer.

This is rich coming from the person who sh*ts all over Rodgers, Mahomes, etc, anytime someone points out that they’re talented QBs.

Apparently talented QBs are only talented when they aren’t being compared to Brady.

Just to be clear, I'm not arguing that the Brady/Rodgers/Mahomes debate is equivalent to Mac/Wilson, for many reasons, but there are some parallels.

Anytime someone points out that Mahomes/Rodgers are exceptionally talented (even without any mention/comparison to Brady), Amfootball is swift to point out that talent/stats are for losers.

That aside, the more I think, the more I'm inclined to give the edge to Mac. I'm imagining a late-season, cold-weather game, where the margins are super tight and you need exceptionally good preparation, mental toughness, attention to detail, and ability to handle adversity.

I don't know Mac nor Zach personally and we need to see a lot more of them to come to accurate conclusions about their make-up, but I'm inclined to go with Mac in that aforementioned scenario over Zach, based on what I've observed of them, read about them, and based on some assumptions about their respective backgrounds.

Why are we acting as if Wilson is a good qb? Maybe he is, maybe he isn't.

He has jokes about his mom. He has a hilarious group photo where it looks like he's never seen a big black dude in his life. He just took 6 sacks in 1 game.

I'm still of the mindset Mac was the steal of the draft. What makes people think Zach Wilson is good ?? 6 sacks a game and this kid is toast before October.

.

Vernon Gholston is a FREAK athlete and his game is going to translate really well to the NFL. OTOH Mayo could very well be a good pick, but only time will tell.....

Wait, what are we talking about...... ohhhhh.......

Why are we acting like Mac is a hall of famer? Maybe he is maybe he isnt. I mean Wilson does not really have the line Mac does. lol. I will say this. Wilson is also one of those run around guys, and frankly they are going to take more sacks, and I hate that style of Qbing, but lets hold off on defining a QB's career in one game for either of them because in the end, the pats only scored 16 points and lost at home to the dolphins.

I do not own rose colored glasses and do not wish to borrow yours.
Mac looks great to me. And im looking through reading glasses, not rose colored. I think you need glasses, my friend.

Lots of talk about how Wilson will improve, but what about Mac after a solid year or two being coached by the Pats? The kid eats, drinks and sleeps football. He's going to get even better as he learns more about the system and gains more experience, and the players around him learn more about what he wants/expects from them. As he said to the Omissioner, this is what he wanted all along. He's got the job, he's going to run with it. He's already a huge improvement over Cam in areas like blitz pickups and 3rd down conversions, and he's only going to get better.

Wilson seems to be likely to be falling into the pattern of a kid with flashes of talent ruined by a bad team around him and at best average coaching. See how Jameis Winston looks better in New Orleans with Sean Payton coaching. Even Sham Darnit looks better in Carolina. Wilson's best hope is that he survives his early years on da Jete without becoming completely broken mentally and/or physically, and can get himself into a better organization.

We can all see da Jete are going to have a terrible season so ownership will have to fire somebody, my guess is the GM. Then we'll get a new GM and the roster will get all churned so it'll be another terrible season, so time to fire the coaching staff. By Year 3 Wilson will have lost all confidence and the fans will turn on him then he'll get dealt for draft picks to select the next wunderkind. Shampoo, rinse, repeat.

If you keep going with that logic however - does Wilson beat out Newton for the starting job in the preseason or is another bridge year until he's ready? Posts like these deserve their own thread - especially in the off-season to drive discussion.

Ah, the "What If..."

(now on Disney+ new episodes Wednesdays)
I think most QBs in the NFL can beat out Cam. Without extraordinary athleticism compared to NFL players he is not a special NFL player. So tons of solid QBs with average arms and better recognition and intelligence can beat him out.

So this is not much of a hypothetical.. But yes Wilson would beat out Cam. Seems like a good kid and a good football player. But he should have made a point of not being drafted by the Jets. I think they will ruin him.

It's all about tradeoffs with NFL QBs can you live with just decent athleticism and a decent arm if you have a super smart and accurate QB? I think you can and the best example we have is Drew Brees..

Could you live with better athleticism, a better arm and reasonably smart and accurate QB - yup Aaron Rodgers..

Ty Warren > DeWayne Robertson

It is very difficult to evaluate Zack since he was running for his life most of the game, and his receivers could not get open....and he he got slammed a few times. How he go up from the whiplash hit, I do not know, but he must be hurting this week. What a horrible introduction of the NFL for that kid. When he had a chance, he did flash a lot of ability.

I think it was irresponsible of the Jets to draft such a prospect before they solidify their OL and WR corps. It was as if QB was their only problem. Drafting Zack seems like a typical idiotic owner move, a move that a typical fan would make, but who knows. You could put any QB, even Mahones (to a lesser degree), behind that Jets OL with the last week's WRs and it would be a disaster. Maybe Mahones could run around a bit and complete a few passes, but look at what happened in the Super Bowl.

You're asking the wrong person. I've been calling for Mac since last October and think he's the second coming. Taking him as the 5th QB at #15 without trading up at all is just icing on the cake.
Me too. Before the draft, I had them rated one and two among all the QBs available. Check my old postings if you do not believe me.

Just expanding the discussion a little bit, it's actually interesting to consider that all 4 QBs in the ACFE may actually be pretty good.

1. Mac - seems to be the best mentally, good touch and able to produce under pressure; confident as a MF
2. Zach - the best from a pure arm talent perspective, no throw he can't make; will he be productive at this level of competition?
3. Tua - when he's throwing quick, it looks pretty good, and he's good with the RPO; but he's small, and when the play takes longer it seems to fall apart
4. Josh - the prototype for an NFL QB from a build perspective; can make the throws and also run you over. Looked very good last year but was crap prior, let's see if it sustains

Wilson is the much more talented QB but plays for the worse org by a country mile. So hard to answer.
May I ask why you would come to that conclusion? What evidence is there to say Wilson is more talented than Jones?

Much more talented?

Weird dude, he was down on Brady 70% of the time too and McDaniels, I've never seen anyone hate an OC that helped a team get to 4 Superbowls that much
