Cam Newton Interview: "I was bamboozled"

Yup: Cam Newton

$3.5 Million guaranteed at signing.

Ok. I started to care a lot less after I realized he didn't vaccinate and caused self inflicted reasons. I'm big on reliability (see Isiah Wynn positioning), so if a guy could conceivably screw his team over due to covid protocols, makes it very hard to defend. He seems to be going weird (sadly) now a bit like AB after getting cut. NE is just a really bad place for older big name players to end up (Ocho), can be brutal.

.

Youve gotten worse at back peddling and lying. Surprising with your decades of experience.
Facts are facts. Newton said it himself.

I'm so glad the Patriots didn't adopt ring6/andy's crazy advice and trade away 5 first round picks for one of the other 4 worse QBs. This ended up perfect for the Patriots and I was so glad that Mac fell and the Pats got the right guy despite not tanking the season for a higher pick last year

When did I say trade 5 picks for a worse QB? Making things up again.

My main thought on all of this is Nink should have stfu'd. I think Cam's play said enough, nobody questioned the decision. We all were like "oh damn, ok, makes sense though," and then Nink - who, as the article states, didn't support Cam (not saying you have to, but it's not the hottest look to have a gossip take on someone you have a track record of not liking) - and sells a single shade of commentary. I don't give a damn that he was a Patriot once.

I'm not doubting that the Patriots staff could've been more forward - but I dunno, Nink chirping in is annoying as hell. Shut up, man. Just shut the **** up. Dude became nothing more than the reporter that BB tries so hard to fight against and keep out of player's ears. "wElL mY SoUrCeS SaIiiD...!!"

uhhhhh.......who's Cam Newton?

oh yeah......dude sucks

p.e.t.a. has newton on their most wanted list for killing thousands of innocent worms!

he’s cooked. Stick a fork in him!

I think this is a unique topic, as Cam Newton's interview today adds fuel to the fire beyond his release, and suggests more to the nefarious possible nature of the Pats organization or various sleazy people inside Foxborough (not to mention toxic Boston media).

- Cam says in retrospect it was all set up, irrespective of being out 5 days, because he was only getting a dozen snaps a day. Mac would get 2nd team snaps but then go back and get 1st team snaps every day.
- Says he went to Atlanta for a medical trip to get his foot (lisfranc) checked out. Said the whole travel plan was authorized by the Patriots staff. Said he did what the Patriots approved and was surprised then he had to sit 5 days (during which time Mac had high visibility that week including against the Giants).

Echo'ing a good comment @venecol made elsewhere: "If that's true, it makes me think someone was definitely trying to paint Cam in a poor light to justify his release. They leaked to media that people were livid inside the organization about his missing practice. Wow, that's pretty sleazy. WTF is going on in that building?"

It does sound like some people in the Pats building are being sleazy (not BB or Kraft). The Ninkovich comments were total bush league. Skip Bayless' criticism was spot on here in terms of a broader narrative, not exactly the best look for Boston. And whoever supposedly leaked the crap rumor to Ninkovich, the not knowing the playbook garbage rumors, is also a human POS.

.

That completely explains why he sucked. I think he was in on it the whole time. We really need a Tebow or Newton ? Thread. And then we need a “ Who did Belichick F*ck Worse? Poll.

Why would the Pats want to set up Cam? It's not like they had to appease the fanbase who wanted him gone anyway.

So when do you report a story and when do you bury it?
Are you saying any negative information about any player should be buried and never reported?

Cam can't throw. The Patriots have running backs and don't need a QB who runs, they need a QB that throws and can run the no huddle. Cam was not the guy. Mac may be, may not be but that doesn't change that Cam is not they guy.

Cam is toast and probably would be unemployed last year too if the Pats hadn't given him a chance.

Any pass longer than 15 yards it seems he's throwing a cement bag. Foot issues, throwing issues, processing, you name it. I actually fear for his health post NFL career if he keeps running and taking a beat, he took too many shots on the head while playing for the Panthers. That opening game against the Broncos some years ago, man, that's CTE material right there.

Also, there's no foot specialist physician in Boston? you're in a risky situation in your job you're gonna take trips? Somethings doesn't matter your job you have to have some sense, I started in a new job this week, huge opportunity, I used to give my grandparents some assistance during the week that now I won't be able to do it for a while, I already told the care taker I pay to stay with them during the week that I won't be available during business hours for a while, I can't be taking absences or being offline every now and then, in my previous job I gained their trust after so many years they knew I could be absent for some periods that I would compensate after, gotta have some street smarts, nobody is going to tell you you're wrong or to not do something, but you're wrong, back to Cam, you're not playing well, your boss is very rigorous, there's this new kid doing everything right and your co workers starting to side with him and you're not taking a vaccine and being unavailable? Cmon man

No one else wanted him in 2020. No one else wanted him in 2021. No one else wanted him when he was cut.
No one is going to want him if their starter is injured.
He stinks. All of the other 31 teams knew it and belichick was the last one needing convincing and he’s there now.

Facts are facts. Newton said it himself.
Spinning and backpedaling everytime you get caught and look foolish. New screen name, same liar.

LA considered Cam in 2020 from Lynns mouth. Cam wanted to START in 2020.

I’m not the one who is all over the place posting total horsesh!t, Cam Newton sucked @ss during his time in New England, and apparently everyone other than you is able to see that. One minute you are posting about how you can”t wait to see Newton starting in regular season, the next about how you were with Jones all along, Newton was right however when he said they aren’t 32 QB’s better than him, that number is closer to 80, and that’s only if we don’t include college and high school QB’s.

Congratulations on getting through a post without crying about Josh MacDaniels, that’s a big first for you.

I never, never say this, but this was one exception. Bayless was race baiting and it was such a ridiculous take. It was stirring a pot that didn't exist. Cam admitted in multiple interviews he still didn't have a great grasp of the offense pre snap

That's not than likely what Ninko was referring to, because Mac has a really good grasp of how to run it. No one leaked anything. the media is running with the vaccine issue because that's all the media is talking about these days. You know, natural immunity doesn't mean anything.

Patriots probably decided it was going to be tough to have Cam as a backup and would be more of a distraction that can't really run their offense anyway. So they cut their losses and ran with the guy who had the much bigger upside
