OT: Did the Pats Consider Trading Brady Instead of Bledsoe After SB 36?

100% kept the wrong guy. There was a rumor out there that they were going to re-name Gillette to The-House-That-Drew-Built. If Bledsoe stayed here, he'd have 6 rings instead of Brady. They'd be renaming the SB MVP trophy the Bledsoe award, and Brady would be married to Bridget What's Her Face and he'd be the one with the winery. Or Whinery.

We have Mahomes.

You don't.
Mahomes had a lower passer rating in the latest Super Bowl than Cam Newton did in his. The one before that wasn't anything great either.

Maybe this time he'll break an 80 rating? :D

Well normally I wouldn't tell someone to F off. But that poster had it coming.
You should get to know him better. You'll still want to tell him that, but in a more lighthearted way.

I'm more interested in the site filters right now: "****scomb is a fleshy growth or crest on the top of the head of a male fowl. ****scomb may also refer to: Rhinanthus minor, a species of flowering plant."

We obviously never considered trading Brady, but I do remember fans of other teams lol’ing like wow they actually think this guy is any good after being carried by the defense to a sb. And they insisted we were dumb for keeping him over drew

Don't ever change! :haha:

Hmm.....and you don't think having garbage at OL affected this? You think any other QB would've won under those circumstances?

How did Brady do in both SB's against the Giants? Oh right...failed to hit twenty points both times.

Obviously Brady must be a bum too right?

No need for people to get upset just because my guy is a generational talent who will win 3 NFL MVP's before his age 30 season. Not to mention at least 3 more SB wins before the 2025 season.

Eagles should have taken a look at the Brady situation and used it as an example before keeping Wentz over Foles. Foles isn't great but he worked in the eagles system.
The Eagles front office believed their own press clippings and thought they were smarter than anybody else... How else do you explain getting to $50 million in dead money....???

Brady's passer ratings in both those SB's were about 30 points higher than the one Mahomes put up in February. And both were also higher than the Mahomes had against the 49ers. Well you asked...

Brady would have done fine with an OL like that. If you watch him closely game after game like we have all these years you'd know why. Not to mention his head coach wouldn't have allowed that to continue to be a problem all game.

They aren't comparable really.

Foles was a journeyman QB who got hot at the right time. But there was a large sample size showing he wasn't very good. He was QB for my team. He stunk.

Brady had no sample size. He took over and won a SB his first real year starting. The signs were there he was going to be very good. Nothing seemed fluky. Obviously nobody could've imagined he would become the GOAT QB.

where's the practice squad folder

Would you take Mahomes on your team over Mac Jones? What about Mahomes over Allen, Jackson, and Baker?

Pretty easy yes to those questions right?

One game does not make a career.

I come here looking for mature discussions with another fan base. But honestly it appears most of this board doesn't want to acknowledge that there are other great QB's out there sans Brady. And there's other great teams besides yours.

Didn't say it did... but a 52 rating in a Super Bowl is historically awful for a Super Bowl as that tweet showed. Should be interesting to see what other teams learned from the Bucs. Thuney was admittedly a nice pickup. But I still wouldn't count out the AFC teams at all, most of them have gotten better than last year.

Too bad you guys don't play us this year, the game would be fun. You guys were only up by 3 last year in the 4th Q in your house against a Patriots team with no quarterback and no real practice time. I think we could run all day on your defense but I doubt we'll find out for sure.

To be fair, it works both ways. We are a Ford offside, and coin flip, away from likely winning the SB in 2018.

Yes I do think the Patriots will be SB contenders again in 2023 or 2024. Give Mac time to get adjusted.

I think the Patriots need a deep threat legit #1 receiver. A good to great TE. And adding young talent at safety and DE.
