Red Throwbacks To Return (Hopefully) 2023 at the earliest

Like some of you, I was at the game when the announcer asked the fans to rate the "potential" new helmet logo "Flying Elvis" vs. "Pat Patriot". Based on the Boos and Cheers that I heard, the result was a resounding Cheer to keep Pat Patriot but I think the decision to change to the Flying Elvis had already been made long before the fan survey.

I too have much better memories with the Pats wearing Blue but IMO, a much better choice would have been to go with the blue uniforms and stick with the Pat Patriot Helmet because Pat Patriot wore a blue jacket along with red and white leggings. Besides, the British wore Red Uniforms (AKA) "The Red Coats".

Agree. Their red uniforms didn’t make any sense when your logo/mascot is wearing blue.

It’s funny how the Bucco Bruce was a laughable/arguably the ugliest uniform during its time. Now people have wanted it back when it’s gone.

The Titans sperm logo needs to go.

Kelly green needs to return.

Jets and Dolphins need to go back to their 90s uniforms. I’d argue the Bills as well.

Falcons need to go back to the 80’s-90’s uniforms.

Hilarious...and True.

This league sucks. Can't have a throw back day but players can drive around with machine guns and still suit up. Almost done here...

But is it 2022 (acceptable) or 2023 (ugly) ?

Pat patriot need the fastest possible return

Looks like the soonest would be 2023... the date to tell the nfl you will be wearing an alt jersey in 2022 has already passed... though i don't know what the big deal is about setting a "cut off" date...

6 playoffs in 33 years with Red. I like the look of Pat (especially with the memory of 59-0), but Elvis has had way more success and is a winner. The "doldrums" of 2009-2012 with the throwbacks (for a few games) where we couldn't get over the hump is consistent with the losing that we saw before 1993. Heck, even the lone throwback game in 2002 was enough to sabotage us, Pennington style.

In all seriousness, though - man do I dislike color rush uniforms.
49ers had some great players and success in their history, including decades of support, prior to going 2-14 in consecutive seasons. When Montana/Walsh era launched they kept their established and loved logo and uniforms. Unlike us, their fans got to see their team they rooted for all those years win it all.

And more historically accurate.
As noted above, the real logo's attire is completely historically accurate. The red/white/blue color scheme is completely appropriate and patriotic. Blue is the most common and drab uniform color used in the league. The Patriots' established (33 years) and attractive home red jersey was theirs alone including that particular shade of red.

The newly formed United States of America did not immediately enact laws and regulations mandating that medical science dedicate itself to changing the color of human blood due to the British Empire's (or the Roman's) use of red. The U.S. flag is mostly colored red.

Nope, Bob still has time to do nothing. It would be a massive disappointment if we don’t hear the Pats will wear alternates in 2022.

“Teams must inform the league office of their intent to use an alternate helmet in 2022 by no later than July 31, 2021.”

You’re in a very small minority.
Doesn’t bother me none. I hope they keep them a bit longer. Wouldn’t mind some throwback games, and some wild ideas that they could do each year. The new uniforms rock though.

please read...

According to the memo disseminated on Thursday by the NFL, all teams must decide and declare by July 31 whether they’ll be using a second helmet in 2022. Complicating matters for the various teams is that “the notice date for 2022 uniform changes has passed and no new uniforms can be developed for the 2022 season, other than those previously approved by the League Office for the 2022 season.”

This means that, for example, the Patriots won’t be able to adopt for 2022 an alternate uniform based on their Pat Patriot throwbacks, making the return of a white helmet impractical before 2023. Ditto for the Tampa Bay creamsicle uniforms, the light blue Oilers helmet as an alternative to the Titans’ uniform, and any other alternate helmets that make no sense without an alternate set of jerseys and pants.

"Color Rush", "Old School" more "Recent School" are all ploys to generate more money being made by the NFL and owners for officially license NFL jerseys & memorabilia...

If the Pats were to do anything it would be to update "Pat Patriot" to something more palatable from current one that looks like it was a prize in a 6th grade art contest..

Then that makes all these recent updates by the media a moot point.
unless a team has petitioned the league to wear throwbacks in 2022 already... in which case they can add the second shell to that look...

but for the Pats, we are **** outta luck and have to keep watching the pajama version of an NFL uniform...

and you get a winner just for using the word "moot"

I suppose, but we can already get red jerseys from the Pats Pro Shop, and I presume they are licensed:

So it then becomes a matter of asking if fitting the squad with new helmets will bring in enough new business to make it worth the bother.
