Trent Brown Playing LT and Onwenu at RT with Wynn Still Out

No doubt it's just, what? Cowart is a tough watch tbh. Bentley is at least useful at times.
Here's 14 front six players (not counting the usual ST specialist). I don't want to see Cowart or Bentley on the team.

Judon, Hightower, Van Noy
Uche, Jennings, Winovich, Perkins, McMillan
Guy, Wise, Anderson, Godchaux, Adams, Barmore

And two others that should be ahead of the useless wastes Coward & JaWrong (& Brandon the King of STs Penalties) on the current depth chart are Carl the Concussion Davis (if healthy) as our ONLY Real NT; and LB/STer Harvey Langi (again, if healthy)...

I think that 14 front six players is enough, plus 11 DB/STers.

But I suppose I can understand your choice of Langi over Davis as the last DEF/STer.

My hunch, not only is Bentley making the team, he'll look much better surrounded by the listed players in your post. Will he be Ray "perhaps two victims" Lewis circa 2000 ? No. But he'll be asked to do much less, imo, and that will benefit both he & the team. My 2 cents.

Based on...?

Agreed...Davis has too many well-paid & highly-drafted linemen ahead of him now (but Not including Coward of course); whereas Langi with a good camp should overtake Hall & Especially Bentley & King...Raekwon McMillan should be a Lock with a decent-enough camp...This dude can play...

Hasn’t Davis had a bunch of concussions? At what point does he need to consider his long term future and the possibility of cte versus playing in the nfl?

I only know of one. When were the others?

FWIW, they basically signed Davis and Bethel to the same contract over the next two years. [Bethel has a third year, but the first two years are almost identical.]

I remember reading a PFF post earlier in the offseason that listed Davis as one of the three most productive special team players in the entire league in 2020, at least before his injury. I think that Bill loves him in that role and can’t see someone like Langi beating him out for a special teams spot.

Edit: seems like people were referring to Carl Davis not Cody. My bad.

I think he might've had two separate ones here; the first soon after he signed, and the other after he played a couple of games maybe...?
If you Google a sports story about him, the article will talk about concussions. I do not remember specific situations, but it is a generally known issue. Must not be severe but is not only once or twice either.

Saw a replay of the raiders and Miami game the other day and first I was surprised to see brown was playing, (not injured), second, he was playing with no leverage. When you are up that high, he could not offer anything in the run game. No push.

hopefully bb can fix that.

A little surprised but not shocked that Tom Cable, allegedly one of the better OL coaches, couldn't correct that issue over the course of two years...

Yeah..Brown won’t be as effective at RT as he was at LT. However as others have eluded to ...overall the line will be stronger with him there. A lot of good versatility on the line this year which may allow us to carry one less lineman.

Yeah its not the severity, so much as the frequency of concussions that leads to
brain damage. Not good for him.
I worry about Edelman.

He was arguably our 3rd best OL'm the year he was here. There's no reason he can't play at that level this year at RT if he stays healthy.

I'll never forgot that year. Everyone was hanging on Brown's balls when Thuney was our best OL'm and Mason was right there as well. Brown was awesome but it's not like he can't play really well from the right side.

Also bc I'm not a psychopath, no player has to play at a certain position for me to be happy. I'm a fan of the team, not a player. I want them to win. It won't feel any less or better if Isaiah Wynn is playing TE or Trent Brown is rushing the QB.
