Red Throwbacks To Return (Hopefully) 2023 at the earliest

Looks like the Red Throwback is back baby!

Hopefully at any rate... Less is more when it comes to the color rush uniforms we are now sporting ... as in the less we see it, the better off we are...

Starting in 2022, the NFL will allow alternate shells, and long as they meet all safety requirements...

the Pats stopped wearing the Red throwbacks because the NFL would only allow 1 helmet... with this new rule, in 2022 there is potential for the reds to return, if the Krafteseses allow it...

Some of my favorite games were played in the throwback red jerseys in the snow. The red on white looks great!

Would also be cool to see the 1960 uniform with the tri corner helmet in a game... I can't remember a single instance of that logo being used

Player safety was the primary reason the NFL previously told teams to stop using alternate helmets: Teams wanted every player to have one helmet that fit him properly, and not to alter it during the season. But the new policy addresses those concerns by requiring teams to have a new set of alternate helmets for every player on the roster, to ensure that all alternate helmets are the same make, model and size as the player’s primary helmet, and by requiring players to get fitted for both their primary and alternate helmets at the same time in training camp.

This has always confused me.

How was it unsafe to have 2 helmets of the same make, model, and size, but with a different paint job?

My theory was that it was placed into effect at the peak of the NFL’s concussion crisis in the public eye around 2012-13. They were doing anything for better optics at that point, scientifically accurate or not.

That’s not the reason why and Kraft has no excuse. Broncos brought back the orange jerseys and created a hybrid with their current uniforms. In fact, broncos slapped their old logo on the new colored helmets as a retro hybrid. Cardinals created a black alternate jersey. Bengals had an orange alternate. There are others.

Fans have wanted a red alternate for years with the current uniforms as a compromise but Kraft is just lazy and doesn’t want to.

They could’ve simply taken off the Elvis logo and replaced it with the Pat Patriot.

So the next excuse would be the silver helmet.

I miss the late Parcells/Carroll years uniforms. That was an awesome look in the 90’s.
