I just listened to Bill press conference and I must say with the rumors that he could retire, the fact that he didn’t actually confirmed that he was gonna play and Bill’s response, my confidence has dipped a little.

Edit: the video is time stamped at the specific question.

I am thinking that Hightower may want to play but the team wants him to take a pay cut. I would assume that is why we don't have any official word yet.

He has one year left on his deal and they have cap space now even with his full salary. Is a pay cut really that important?

Yeah I agree, specially for a great player who was huge in 3 championships and didn't exactly break the bank when he became a free agent because he had to deal with a weak market at the time. Let him get his last paycheck and ride into the sunset.

I would keep him at his current salary I just don't know if Bill will. It wouldn't shock me if Bill didn't want to pay a 31 year old LB coming off a missed year $12.5 mill when he could save around $10 mill by cutting him.

I can see it if they need the cap space but they don’t need it right now unless they are trying to extend Gilmore and Jackson and maybe take on Julio Jones. I don’t see both CB getting long term contracts and don’t see a trade for Jones on the horizon.

Send him to Atlanta with Harry and Michel

Releasing or trading Hightower would be a very short sighted mistake, in my opinion.

Are we actually advocating for another year of Ja'Whaun Bentley over Hightower?
Do we trust Raekwon McMillan to play at Hightower's level?
Are we thinking that Josh Uche or Harvey Langi will suddenly make monumental progress between now and Sept 12?
Or that 5th round pick Cameron McGrone should be the starter and defensive play caller?

It depends on whether or not they bring in Julio Jones on his current deal.

Hmmm...interesting I guess. I'm still assuming he returns.

I will be upset if Hightower doesn't play. I'm used to guys leaving and sometimes advocate for older guys to call it quits for their health but for my own selfish needs....stay!!! please. Our run defense last year bothered me more than our offense.

Harry, sure. Get a bag of footballs for him, call it addition by subtraction

Michel no... He's decent, cheap depth.

Am hoping High plays this season... Better with him than with out

WEEI just passed on a report that claims Hightower was at Gillette, in street clothes.

This is what I found, and I think that might be McGrone. They're both number 54 right now.

Could be good or bad Highs there in street clothes
