Vinatieri announces retirement from the NFL

I saw a Desmond Howard interview where he threw a little shade at Vinatieri trying to chase him down
He can go f himself.

What a career.

I agree: first ballot hall of famer.
========
That being said, a players is supposed to be the very best of his generation (which he was). HOWEVER, you should have left off 3 times pro-bowler. How many hall of famers are pro-bowlers in less than 15% of their seasons?

If AV was still here in 07 there was no Super Bowl 4th and 13.

Bill sends AV out to kick that 49 yard field goal there is no doubt about that. And he makes it too.

Sure Bill would of let him try it. As clutch as he is, 49 yard fg’s are not automatic.

Should of let Ghost try it. His leg was tremendous in his early years. Denied him the chance to start his own legacy or failure. But I also get the coaching logistics of the decision.

Not only did he leave for a few extra dollars, he never even gave the Pats a chance to counter. And he went to the filthy Colts. He's dead to me. I hope the multiple rings he left on the table were worth the few extra dollars.

Funny that Peyton Manning actually really did "need" Vinatieri in 06 even more than Patriot haters accuse Brady of that.

AV almost singlehandedly eliminated a really strong Ravens team that year. 5 FGs accounting for all Colts points. 3 of those FGs were 42+ yards and 1 was 51 yards. (and Manning had a lousy game).

I say almost because Bob Sanders was unbelievable that whole playoff run.
Bob Sanders was the 2006 Colts. PM coattails like he did again with Denver.

super clutch, but also had opportunities being on a dynasty team as well

amazing player, ashamed he had to tarnish his legacy with the Colts but thems the breaks.. also people give him too much credit for the Panthers superbowl, where he missed 2 easy field goals earlier in the game and was 0/2, but people only remember the last one that won the game.. but he was 33% accuracy that day, so he gets way too much credit for that game

Not gonna tell someone when it’s time to retire so I’ll let someone else do it.

Great career, too bad he tainted the other half of it with the dolts.

Forever grateful but he will retire a Colt unfortunately.

I wish vinatieri nothing but the best in his retirement.

he made some great kicks for us and was a great find by parcels!

“Adam Vinatieri is the greatest kicker of all-time who made the greatest kick of all-time in the 2001 divisional playoffs,” Belichick said. “His consistency, mental toughness and performance under pressure was legendary. I am honored to have coached Adam, going all the way back to his rookie year in 1996 and through some of the most special moments in Patriots and league history. Adam is in the rarest of echelon of athletes whose career accomplishments may never be matched.”

A legend for me and that 45 yards kick in the snow one of the best ever plays in our team history

Grazie Adam for everything

For me a Patriot forever
One of the best plays ever in NFL history.

Thank you Adam for all you kicked in to help launch this dynasty.

And from a personal note watching those kick go through the uprights live with my dad is one of the best moments of my life. Snowbowl and SB.

Sanders would have been a Hall of Famer if healthy...he was absolutely insane.
