Adam Vinatieri: I haven't given up on playing, but writing's on the wall - ProFootballTalk (nbcsports.com)

I wonder if he'd want to retire a Patriot. Feels like he'd consider himself an Indianapolis Colt and that's understandable since he was there longer. Also won a ring with them and pretty much singlehandedly won a playoff game for them.

As clutch as it gets at the position. Pats probably wouldn't have 3 rings in the '00's without him.

super clutch, but also had opportunities being on a dynasty team as well

amazing player, ashamed he had to tarnish his legacy with the Colts but thems the breaks.. also people give him too much credit for the Panthers superbowl, where he missed 2 easy field goals earlier in the game and was 0/2, but people only remember the last one that won the game.. but he was 33% accuracy that day, so he gets way too much credit for that game

True but he was 5 for 5 in FGs in the AFC championship game against the Colts. That game should have been a blowout but the Pats left quite a few points on the field that day.

He would have been one of my top 4 on my MVP ballot of Super Bowl 2001. Law, Brady, A. Smith and Vinatieri

Not gonna tell someone when it’s time to retire so I’ll let someone else do it.

Great career, too bad he tainted the other half of it with the dolts.

Will alway remember him chasing Hershel Walker down. Kickers or anybody for that matter, we're not supposed to do that. The image of him with that kick against St. Louis is still fresh in my mind. The New England Patriots are World Champions! Maybe he was the first player BB didn't pay or praise. Kickers can have inaccurate moments or seasons and it may not be age related. I will watch with indifference.

"The kicker" ran him down! Lol.

sign the beast!

for a one day contract.

Give him a pat on the back, a hearty thank you, and rocking chair from Cracker Barrel painted with the Flying Elvis logo

Would also love to see him get a shot to officially end his career like Flutie did with one kick.

Wasn't one of them blocked???

Funny that Peyton Manning actually really did "need" Vinatieri in 06 even more than Patriot haters accuse Brady of that.

AV almost singlehandedly eliminated a really strong Ravens team that year. 5 FGs accounting for all Colts points. 3 of those FGs were 42+ yards and 1 was 51 yards. (and Manning had a lousy game).

I say almost because Bob Sanders was unbelievable that whole playoff run.

It really was an incredible play. Great tackle.

I saw a Desmond Howard interview where he threw a little shade at Vinatieri trying to chase him down
