Roster Decisions

I think Agholor will become part of the starting line-up. But, with our history of imported "talented" WR's, there is no way he'll be ready wk 1. Bourne is a lot like Meyers, and I think his history in Shanahan's system with Jimmy G will have him ready to contribute immediately. With Agholor serving a specialized role until he gets fully immersed (which could be never - a la Ochocinco, Lloyd, Galloway)

Lloyd had a pretty solid first year.

I see Sonny gone.

The Pat's have a better Sonny in Harris. The Pat's didn't have a bruiser power RB for short yardage and the goaline man.. Hopefully, Stevenson is that guy.

Bolden is primarily a back up RB and Swiss Army knife who does everything pretty well. He scored a big TD last season and he is content with his role and playing time from my observations.

Taylor is intriguing and when he took snaps made the most of them.

White is the RB who can lineup in 4 and 5 WR sets and demand respect. Also,at times last season when Sonny was ineffective, White replaced him and picked up positive yards.

He did. We have had decent contributors. I'm simply saying I think Meyers and Bourne will beat Agholor in snaps and packages on the field to start the season. Especially since Henry and Smith will also be vying for pass-catching targets, and I'm expecting to see both of them on the field together a lot.

If you look up you will see 9 examples of 1st year WR's that had good to very good years. I understand you believe 1st year player Agholor will not be in that group but Bourne will.

The only reason I disagree with this is redundancy.

Henry, Smith, Bourne, and Meyers all work the middle of the field beautifully.

Agholor is the best 20+ guy; Harry is the best sideline/back shoulder guy and the best blocker.

I don't think they'll have a "#1, #2, #3" per se, but a bunch of different packages ready to roll. Agholor has to be the guy to open up the middle, which is where they feast, and Cam, despite the naysayers here, can throw a pretty decent long ball.

Well it all depends on who is under center! Everyone, and I mean everyone, had completely sworn of Cam by the end of last year. He couldn't throw more than 10 yards without looking like Rivers. Now all the pundits are wishfully just proclaiming he's going to be so much better because of the new weapons. We'll see. But one thing is for sure, Mac became a 1st round pick BECAUSE of his deep balls to Smith and Co. So, point is, I fully expect Cam to start - but his strength is not the deep ball. Nor is it protections and dissecting quickly, so we'll need quick receivers to get open in the 5-15yd range. TE's and WR's like Meyers, Gunner & Bourne.

If Agholor is out, I can see Myers being the deep guy, with Bourne in the slot. I'm not even sure that Harry would be active over say the 3rd TE.

Cam is an absolute wildcard this year, I agree. He threw some pretty deep balls last year - like the 55-yard rope to Edelman against Seattle.

Did his shoulder just fall apart, irreparably? Maybe.

Was COVID a part of it? Maybe - I think it was, as he talked about things being foggy. Listen to Tatum and the other Celt describe their COVID experiences (neither had a bad, symptomatic case, I believe) and you'll see that that explanation fits with what we saw on the field. Even the confused footwork on short throw checkdowns, or the depth issues.

I hope it was the second, it might be the first. he was never the best "thrower" to begin with. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst.

Mine is very close to yours. I’ve got Keane over a 9th OL. And, Cowart over Reynolds/King Maybe, Carl Davis over Cowart.

I think we can always pick up a 9th ol after cut day. And, we have cap space to pay him more than normal practice squader. Tell Brandon King to hang around Foxboro. BB was really bummed when he got hurt last year

1) I did correct to 8 OL's, as your post indicates. I agree with the strategy of paying an Practice Squad OL as much as we can.
2) I would prefer to add a FB instead of Keene, perhaps instead of Reynolds/King.
3) I don't to see Cowart, but he might make the 53; Adams might be the 6th DT/DL if there is one.

Would bb go this year without a fb and use a 9th offensive lineman as a tight end like he did previously?

I see us using an OL as the 6th OL in various jumbo packages. I suspect that this would be a better choice than using Asiasi. For now, that would be Herron.

Nine OL's seeming less and less likely. I expect us to add a vet IOL with some flexibility (someone like Eluemunor). Such a player would\\ be fine as the 8th active OL.

Cajuste or Sherman could be the 9th. It seems more likely that we rely on 3 Practice Squad offensive linemen as our backups. This seems to be Cajuste's last chance.

I'm betting no.

I think BB wants to run over every defense he faces. Partly because he has to because Cam is sub-standard and Mac is a rookie.

He wants/needs a power football team. Drafting Rham is an indicator.

I'm also expecting Jakob to make the team. Maybe Keene as well. Not sure about # of o-lineman.

Gotta see how camp plays out.

I hope the keep Jakob. See him and Stevenson in the I formation. Brings back memories of Develin and LG blowing up LBs

No idea if Keene can bring that kind of physicality.
Hope so. He’s 6’ 4” 251.

Exactly. As I understand it COVID roster rules are still in place for 2021...?

PSquad is also expanded.

Have always contended that that PS players be treated like MLB minor leaguers.. they could be called up for any game dependent on need or possible situation.. they are paid anyways, might as well be allowed to play as needed.
