Here's a thread for some uncensored discussion, as some threads are infested with homers who lose their minds over criticism of several years of Patriot Draft Failures.

Props are Offense -200, Defense +165.

Odds on exact position of Patriots' first pick

Quarterback +170
Linebacker +280
Wide receiver +350
Cornerback +550
Offensive lineman +1200
Defensive lineman +1800
Safety +2000
Running back +5000
Tight end +6000
Kick/punter/long snapper +50000

I'd go defense with the first pick, LB or DLine or CB. The Patriots were one of the leahue's worst at stopping the run on 3rd down and also red zone. The only players who might fall and be worth taking on offense (no trade-ups) would be if Devonta Smith falls or if Justin Fields falls. Chase won't be there, Waddle is risky and overrated, Trey Lance is fool's gold, and none of the 2nd tier QB guys are worth reaching for at all.

.

I’m not a gambling man, but the odds on both sides of the line seem tempting.

If a team drafts a center in the first round but he ends up spending his career as a long snapper, does that mean the bettor could claim the 50,000 to 1 payout?

It has happened before (to the Patriots of course): Trevor Matich.

(And no, Josh McDaniels was not involved in that decision.)

Not a gambler. Can you explain those numbers?

+ 170 for a QB means that every $100 you wager on a QB you receive $170 in return plus your $100. So, NE takes a QB at 15 and you get $270 for risking $100.

Kicker is + 50,000 per $100. Vegas has made it so attractive for you to put down $100 for a jackpot like that - $50,100. Vegas knows that NE will never take a Kicker at 15, but the bet is so enticing that someone may throw some money on it and of course, Vegas keeps the money when you lose.

- 200 for Offense means that you must wager $200 to win $100 plus your $200 = $300

Again + 165 for Defense indicates that you wager $100 to win $165 + $100 = $265

There's no DL worthy of a first round pick this year, certainly not at 15.
LB or CB, if they draft there, unless one of the top 4 OT falls.

OL, CB, LB would be my favorites at 15, and if they wanted to move down to later in the 1st.

I doubt they make a trade up that’s going to cost them significant draft capitol. Maybe if a qb they really like is within striking distance (3-5) picks. I see them standing pat at 15 and taking the best defensive player available. My pick would be Horn or Parsons, with parsons being my go to if both are available.

Hoping for Jones or Fields at QB but my feelings say a trade back or LB, CB at 15. The arrow will start to point toward mediocrity for the Patriots if they're hoping to strike gold on a 2nd or 3rd tier QB. Looking to be not bad enough for a top pick and not good enough to be a true Super Bowl contender. If there is a top tier QB they like I'm ok with them doing whatever it takes to get them.

Please No DL or DB in the first 2 rounds

I want QB,WR, LB in that order

We do better with UDFA CB’s than we do
Drafting a DB in the 2nd round.
Remember these horrible picks in the 2nd round.

Terrance Wheatley
Darius Butler
Ras-I Dowling
Tavon Wilson
Jordon Richards
Cyrus Jones
Duke Dawson
Joejuan Williams

I wonder if this bet was around when the raiders took janikowski and if so what the odds were.

Missing: Odds for trading out of 1st round

If we are not going hunting for QB in first round and stay at 15 I would prefer Horn,Parsons and Darrisaw or Devonta Smith if one of them is available.
I assume there will not be any Pats' trades and BB will be satisfied with second tier QBs like Mind, Mills or Trask.
